I've never really trusted vista and I have some reasons to believe it may be involved. But I do have another theory, It looks like you might have a Glitchy Application file, Or Executable which ever you call it. It's not very common but sometimes there is a miss placed peice of data that doesn't get burned into the disc or a scratch that Interupts the install process. I say build your own ships... the advantage of this is you can see how well they hold up againest the enemy ships, and afterwards you can modify their states to fair better in battle. with premade ships thats not possible, you cannot modify them. Plus most the preset ones look crap anyways, custom built ones can Look AWESOME.
