Whats with everyone asking for upscaled universes for the sakes of realism? Do you really want to wait any longer for your ships to travel between stars or wallow in even larger gravity wells? You can make your own maps with the new tools out (its easy, just point and click) if you feel that habitable planet/star ratio is unrealistic, (it is, but in real life, no one will find a terran/desert planet in a 5+ star map). Homeworld ships a are awesome but it Homeworld itself that rules, without Homeworld style combat, you will find your ships to be little satisfaction. People tend to make mods for universes/fiction which don't have games of the same genre or (decent)games to speak of. Help me please, I'm trying to make my own mods with buffed capital ships and I keep running into the same problems. I use the straitforward approach of cahnging the .entity files for the ships I want to change and I always run into the same problem. Whenever I change the damage of a weapon by doing something like DamagePerBank:FRONT 105.000000 > to > DamagePerBank:FRONT 995.000000 The ship won't fire on anything with Heavy armor class, that means flak frigs, carriers and
I just tested a Radiance vs Marza circle strafing, with cpu as Marza. I found that one can circle the Marza indefinitely and if microed very intensely and stay away from its missiles(they tend to miss and go off in circles when my Radiance was very close). The radiance can launch its det-antimatter perpendicularly so but the Marza couldn't launch its rad bomb in likewise fashion which gave me the advantage. I didn't fight on until the end because the AI "gave up" but the radiance had a bit more
I find the situation where two ships will sit still while trying to kill each other to be equally weird, if not absurd. I have yet to actually test my theory though. If the Marza can turn quick enough, it does make it an inviable tactic. However, ist it fast enough, or indeed, any battleship fast enough to chase my carrier around a planet? ;p
Starhound, Siege caps don't pwn battleships with ease. Its only due the current popular/viable tactic of parking ships in a line and focus firing do you allow a siege cap with its superior frontal guns to pound you into space dust. A head to head slugging match places the Marza at an advantage because it can bring all guns to bear to aginst the 1/2 to 3/4 strength firepower of a battleship. Is it possible to "circle-strafe" the marza to avoid its frontal guns? The Kol has three banks of autocannon on its right from what I can remember so it can out-gun the marza firing broadsides. Or maybe using the Vasari Marauder which is supposed to be real fast we can circle it indefinitely and negate the marzas strong front dps, or not let it shoot at all, which would be a humiliating demise for the so called dps king. I just changed the damage on banks which already had values, but it seems that the resulting ships won't fire on anything with heavy armor class. Does anyone know of mods where Capital ship damage has been successfully modified? I would like to compare the changes made with mine.
Hi all, I was using the SinsModPackage to edit some TEC capital ships and buffing their damage outputs by changing the .entity files like how they do in the SINS_modset pdf. The mod loads fine but the resulting ships can't fire on certain ships such as anti-strikecraft, carrier-cruisers and support cruisers, (which coincidentally all have heavy armor class). The capital ships can target (see red line when pressing shift) and position themselves in range but they do not fire any weapon on the afo
