Skins can have the same name, there's nothing unique about one unless it's trademarked or imitates another persons work.
I understand the trademark, but still a skinner should have the some rights to the name of his widget, gadget, etc I personally don't want people coming out with widgets with the same names as mine. Also you mentioned if the skin imitates another persons work... well DartBoard clock from <a id="ctl00__Conten

The zip file asks does ask to overwrite. But it still can be confusing if I tell someone about my clock and tell them to search for it by name. They could download the wrong one. Anyhow. I think widget names should not be the same(even with just a space) because some people could get very mad if they see another widget with their name.

Forgot to mention: I thought when something was submitted that the names were automatically verified somehow. Are they? p.s. I am not at all mad about the name thing... but I'm sure others would not like having a widget that uses the same one as theirs.

Philly, exactly. I made a clock widget called DartBoard awhile ago... and today someone has one in the gallery with the same name. So I was wondering if someone was allowed to do that and Xiandi just explained that it would overwrite the other. Also if I tell someone to search to find my Dartboard clock, they might get the other

Hi Redneck, I sent her the plugins also and I don't believe it helped. She has Antico Clock, Silica Clock, and Steampunk Weather and says they work fine. I'll send you the gadget versions. If you have no problems, then the problem will be on her computer. Thanks.

I have someone that downloaded 2 of my clocks. (GoldenGear and OldTime) and the hands wouldn't show. I sent the person the gadget versions and they get the message (GoldenGear G.exe has stopped working). If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If I had a weather site I would gladly let you have it for free because there is so little left on this planet that is free.Would you pay for all teh bandwidth that the free users are using? Without asking for anything in return (like an link to your site so you could at least recoup the bandwidth cost through your adverts)? How long could you do that if your feed was availalbe everywhere without bringing any money in? <b

I've been reading the posts for days and as in any situation, there can never be a solution that makes everyone happy. I respect all opinions and understand that there are some who will not be creating any more widgets. There are also those, like myself, that are just waiting for the final solution to start creating again. I know so little about scripting, or the legal part of using weather.com or others so the only thing I thought of to do was contact some weather sites to ask if we can use
Just a thought: Any artists that do not want to update thier own widgets to conform to weather.com's terms that Wincustomize has to respect could always grant permission to other artists to update them instead. Those artists could put in stipulations to give credit to the original artists or even approval before submission. Thank you Sviz. I do understand all the arguments for and against the rules and or violations, and also the fact that some will not modify their creations, etc. I respect everyone's opinion but it would be sad to see the end of weather widgets. So if I am at all capable of fixing my widgets (having minimal knowledge of scripts, etc), I will do my best. So I hope people don't give up...because for every problem, there is a solution.

I've been reading the posts for the problem concerning the weather widgets and from what I read, there is a way for creators to fix their widgets so that they can re-submit them. I would not mind fixing all my widgets so that they can stay on wincustomize... so what I need is help from someone to show me how to do this or fix one of mine, then I could see how and do the same for my others. Thanks
I do not know the law . . but I would not do such a thing becuae *I* believe it violate the spirit of teh license. weather.com is providing a service and deserves what they are asking for. It's theirs. Thank you. I understood. This project is already stopped and even has been removed from my PC. I agree. We must respect TWC. Vad_M My SleekSilva weather widget that you fixed works fine now. My question
