Thanks for an update. Good luck working out the errors. I do hope "bad people with bad routers" doesn't turn into too much a scapegoat though. Practically, allowing people to be kicked if they're holding up the connectivity is an alright stop gap solution and will see more games getting going, but if all these games right now are being held up by people with setups that impulse reactor can't work with then there really are a lot of them. Lord know

So yeah, at some point between first launch today and yesterday all my stored favor, favor items and achievements got fubar'd. Achievements and items reset to locked with 0 progress and favor ended up at -740 (sounds like either aprox. the cost of items I'd unlocked or the amount of unspent favor I had) It's not a one off display bug and it's not dissappearing with a restart. I checked game.prefs and all the achieve progress is gone, I've got an old game.prefs.bad which

Well, can't hurt to have one more, same circumstances, joining custom, clicked connection info as soon as it appeared, freeze and unhandled exception: Demi-Log DXDiag Also, through chicanary I managed to keep demigod running after the exception and got myself an interesting new UI <a href="http://filesmelt.

Click the lightning bolt symbol in impulse, under preferences -> archive & install there's a change install folder button. You can pick a new default from there or have it ask you for every application. [Edit - Second place sucks, gold for Kryo's ninja skills]

I'm just saying everything about the OP says GOO is primarily targeted at digital distribution of games so that isn't an issue they're aiming to solve. I just added some of the other issues to cover all the bases.

Ah, fair point, I just plain forgot they have methods of making physical backups. [e digicons]:pout:[/e] If it works your way then they have adressed the issue of reliance on a single server for authentication with that at least.

Maybe I did misinterpret that part, but if that's the case, then what's the point in being able to authenticate off other servers if I could only download the client off the distributor that has now gone under and I'd only need to authenticate if I was reinstalling?

Ok, I'm confused, is it really worth all the fanfare? It's pretty much what's already been done but less intrusive... And, though I'm loath to say it, it actually sounds less secure. It's an online activation that points to impulse instead of the publisher's server. That's fine but it doesn't really adress the "What if company X goes away?" question, it's just that company X becomes Stardock instead of the publisher. Of course there's still the "What if I don't have int

Warcraft 3 and Spellforce had them way before that too. The idea of units which acrue experience and you choose the benefits for has been around long enough that it's just a basic design element now.

Since it's become a general vent your frustrations thread, I'm tired of the "the full version is much better than what you're testing" caveat to all posts by Brad recently. If it's done enough that anyone can say the full version is definately better why not release it to the beta testers for feedback? If on the other hand it's not actually finished enough to release then you can't know it "will" be better, especially with so little development ti

Jamez, Vundarbread has just confirmed the damage isn't assigned until the cast is complete, maybe you should trust him, being a dev and all? It would be kinda cool if the damage for rain of ice was assigned alittle later than the end of cast, to match with the animation more. (Edit - Just to clarify, the cast time on hammer slam matches the animation pretty much) As for hammer slam, either you're too slow (poor latency won't help) or you didn't guess the impact point right. I've been

Yay, a first hand update rather than one second hand from IRC. More of these please, too much stuff that goes on in IRC is easily missed. As for beta 3 still having troubles, pain pretty much sums it up.

So, um... Is the single player going to be beta tested at all? It's pretty low in my excitement rankings about it anyway, but there were "big plans" for the single player aspect, did anything happen? Aside from that, non crash/bug related feedback can finally start, huge yay!

Objectively, I know the beta as is would make a pretty shocking release candidate, even without the connectivity issues, and that in itself hasn't got me worried about the final quality of the product. I've always seen the potential for improvement in there and

It's the 500 point permanant item for assassins, does 200 points damage anywhere on map. AIs seem to pick whatever they fancy for items, and nightmare AIs usually get that one and spend the whole game shooting at each other's citidel. Pretty pointless though since the damage is simply regened away before the cd is over.

Just making this topic on a whim, basically everyone knows it's beta and everyone knows it's their chance to change what they don't like. Well just to keep a sense of balance and a little stability, here's a place to voice your opinions on what bits of the game you already love and hope will never change (much)! A couple of mine to start things off : Attack while moving (Especially the melee) - Not just the mechanic, the animations for the most part feel

I remember the giant's inadvertantly blocking the path on the lava level as well, that was a real map killer. To clarify here I'm talking about Demigod vs. Demigod collision, I believe Demigod vs. Grunt collision should remain nil, as it is. What I'm thinking of here is demigods opperating on a different "layer" (for lack of a better word) than grunts when it comes to blocking where they only affect each other not the little guys. I've just remembered th

There's a point on implementation, I envisaged the items gloablly affecting only the general's own summoned minions, not the portal spawned grunts. I suppose the alternative implementation is making them aura based buffs that affect all units in an area. As a point of personal taste I'd rather they were only to buff the generals own summoned minions, to stop groups of itemed up generals and grunts being considerably more powerful than the sum of t
