I may add: in some respect, Science has become some sort of replacement for God in our new society. A fundamental flaw in the human way of thinking, is that we want to explain everything. Even if we really have no way of explaining things. Like when you want to hammer a nail in the wall, but you only have a screwdriver and you attempt to use that instead. If people can't find a good explanation, they'll use a bad one. Bad, in this case, means unpractical and unconstructive. You can explain li

For me, God certainly exists. Just like when Beethoven composed his 5th symphony, the 5th symphony came into existence. The first time a man tought of God, God came into existence. God is what people use as some sort of dust bin: they throw in stuff they don't understand and then say that He did it. Of course, that IS an explanation. It's just a very bad explanation from a practical viewpoint. You can't do anything useful with such kind of explanations, other than comfort yourself in times of

Yeah, it's kinda strange that a series as emancipated as Star Trek only once had a female captain as the main character and one that constantly has to prove that's she's the one in charge. With Picard you'd never doubt who's boss =O.

Ah, Voyager had one thing going the rest of the series didn't have: a holographic doctor that thinks he's superiour to the fleshy humans he patches up. That alone makes the series worth watching =P.

Why would you wait for so long before conquering a pirate base? Unless you rush for the Novalith Cannon (which is not a very smart strategy at all), it's much easier to just send in a decent sized fleet and kill all pirates and colonize the base. The pirates may look intimidating, but a fleet with a Capital Ship (any of them, really), a few Hoshis, Carriers and HC will own the crap out of them. And if you have a lvl 6 Marza it's no problem at all. You hardly even need a fleet then. Al

I find the sidebar mainly useful for pinning planets with production facillities. Just unpin everything else (bar the planet where your main fleet is, maybe) so the sidebar doesn't get cluttered. This gives you easy acces to unit production by selecting the planet and then using hotkeys. Always remember the hotkey layout: the 10 buttons in the lower right of the screen correspond to the letters on the top left of your keyboard: QWERTY, ASDF. It's actually quite logical when you get us

Many people think that Caps are a bit underpowered for their cost, but I think you should consider this: there are already quite a bit of players who quit if they loose their first Cap. If capitals would be even more powerful, losing the first one would be an even bigger setback. This would make the early game a more delicate balance and less games might make it into mid game. The first guy to loose his capital would be very likely to loose if caps were more powerful then they are now. If any

I do like the Akkan's Target Uplink for one reason: it can make LRFs outrange Starbases. This is pretty handy, since you'll be able to take them out without getting those expensive anti-structure cruisers or mass bombers. And the other way around, Target Uplink is good for boosting the range of your own defenses. I'm not sure if I'd consider Target Uplink a balanced ability (as it still seems a little weak), but it certainly has it's uses. All in all, the Akkan is more of a defensive than an

Yes, I agree completely with transitive. Buffing every cap to the point where it can whipe out a complete fleet would make the game very bland and would overthrow the whole flow of the game. It would become the twitchy clickfest most other RTS are known for and which most SINS fans are not very fond off. And people also seem to ignore the fact that the Marza is also a big unbalance in the options you have as TEC. Not cranking out a Marza first thing in the morning is basically like gi

Again: if MB is fine, why did CB + Malice get nerfed? That's a combo which is much harder to pull off (since you need 2 cap ships, not one) and has a much smaller AoE than MB. And pretty much every counter which works against MB also works against CB + Malice. MB is better in pretty much every way, yet you keep arguing that it's balanced?

Okay, I understand now. I got a little confused because of the purple ring that appears around the LRM when you hover your mouse over the ability. I guess this ring just indicates the splash area of the rockets when they hit the target. Thanks for the reactions.
Quoting Bobucles, reply 7The radius of missile barrage is 10000... ...Good luck winning a battle with every ship at half health. If your unit isn't moving, and you didn't catch MB within 5 seconds, you're going to take full damage. If your entire fleet is standing still and in radius, then yes, you'll get a facefull, and you'll loose all your frigates. No argument on that point. But if you micro'd your

Is it just me, or is the in-game description of this ability a little vague? Does this ability deal damage to all frigates around the LRF for a short while (if you hover over the button, a small purple ring appears around the unit, I don't really have an idea what else it would indicate), or does the regular attack gain splash damage when using Cluster Warheads? I messed around a bit with this ability, but I couldn't figure it out. Also, how long does it last? No site I've found seems

If you can't kill flaks, you're doing something horribly wrong. I'm sorry, but that's all there is too it. If he has support cruisers, kill those first. Flaks won't kill anything of your fleet anytime soon. Especially if you bring supports of your own. Flaks should almost always be the last priority when killing an enemy fleet and that's the way it should be. Otherwise it would be far to easy to remove the SC killing potential from a fleet and completely dominate with SC. The way it is now, f

What I don't really understand about Caps is why it's so expensive to upgrade the next lvl of Cap ship command. All those researches are twice as expensive as normal research of similar level. Why? You also have to pay for the ship itself and the upkeep it needs. It's not like making these upgrades less expensive is going to cause enormous capital spam. Ok, maybe it's fair to make the first 2 upgrades a bit expensive, because cranking out 2 caps right from the start may be a bit much. But lat
Tec SB forces your enemy either jumping in one by one and rushing, or suiciding the whole shit into big bomb. This is assuming the person is dumb enough to use ships to attack a TEC SB. I pretty much skip past the TEC SB now after learning about the bomb.
So what if the next planet also has a Starbase? You just lost all AM and 50% of your fleet's hull and now there'

As one of the former posters points out: defenses don't use up fleet supply. This is the main reason defenses still have uses. Rather than constantly making your fleet bigger, you can save some money on upkeep by building some defenses instead and trying to lure the enemy into it and then fighting him on your own turf. For this reason, I also like the Phase Jump Inhibitior defense. It stops scouts from jumping through your system (unless they research the expensive abillity) and traps enemy f
