It's hard to know without seeing the replay but this part:
Game last night for example which was lets say average skill, i managed to kill the guy above me, took his HW and 3-5 nearby planets but when another player came i was so much behind him, there was little i can do. Good article/post Frogboy - I agree the demand is definitely still out there - it's just pent up at the moment.
I think saying the RTS market is dying is a bit of truth mixed with a dash of hyperbole and a sprinkling of oversimplification. The games industry has been seeing the same creeping consolidation most industries have over the past couple decades. For RTS we have SC2 with games like CoH/CoH2 and others distant second tier in terms of popularity/players. For MOBAs, it's basically 2 games with HoN a more distant third. Yet MOBAs are considered thriving and RTS is dying? </
I thought Company of Heroes was innovative. Why am I wrong?
You're not wrong - it's why CoH2 is happening and why the original had such a strong MP scene many years past its release.

Maybe the balance guys can show us how we've just been doing it wrong and the game is 99% perfectly balanced already! :)
MOBAs are built off RPG stuff too - character classes, spells/abilities, upgrading items, using potions... Realm Quests look to be more about spicing up the variety of situations or conflicts the heros fight in rather than just the standard laning/jungling.

To me, they are popular because they are: 1. Free to play 2. Provide a sense of progression/attachment to the ga
Around the Steam Christmas sale there were sometimes as high as 1000 online at a time - 700-800 was pretty regular - now it's back down to 200-300.
There's also nothing wrong with a last man standing who still has a fleet wanting one last big battle to go out in a blaze of glory on - it's more the dragging out of a game to just mop up for another hour that people rightly object to.
He said he rarely plays online so "to the last ship" is fine vs. AI if that floats your boat - but yeah, online, what ProtoSlackah said.
This thread at least needs 1 replay. Here is 1 replay: http://www.2shared.com/file/of5wzd51/AutoRecord-01261442.html It isn't ideal because one of the other team drops fairly early but they want to play on. I don't think the outcome would've been affected had he not dropped, just taken longer. It's one of the few skilled games I've had that didn't involve multiple crashes/d
Quoting Turchany, reply 12JustAnotherName there isn't even anything to measure player skill, even win loss ratio means almost nothing, and played games number is not so reliable as good number in both can be achieved by playing against AI or just friends. First something should be done to measure player skills but this would be too complicated I think.. Have you heard of the game starcraft 2? Check it before

Low risk-high reward about sums it up...
I think you mean Sins of a Dark Age, not New Age and I don't think the code involved for the servers of the two games are necessarily compatible as they have different publishers. It would be nice to see a more stable ICO for SoaSE and it is definitely disappointing that a game that has been released for this long still can't manage to have a stable MP server that doesn't drop people every 2nd or 3rd game - which, no doubt, drives players away from the MP component and makes them
