I think you mean Sins of a Dark Age, not New Age and I don't think the code involved for the servers of the two games are necessarily compatible as they have different publishers. It would be nice to see a more stable ICO for SoaSE and it is definitely disappointing that a game that has been released for this long still can't manage to have a stable MP server that doesn't drop people every 2nd or 3rd game - which, no doubt, drives players away from the MP component and makes them

Mr_Book I think you may be overselling the strategic complexity of Sins a bit there. Many avenues to victory? I wish this were true but it really isn't. I wish culture was a more viable avenue to victory but it rarely is. I think the fact that a lot of SC2 players have been hopping in to Sins (as well as a lot of the Chinese players used to playing PvP MP games) and picking it up at a competitive level really fast speaks volumes. If you are used to MP RTS, it really doesn't take long

@ rabidturnip If I follow your posts in this thread, it seems like you are saying JakeMac convinced you to try his hack/trainer/whatever it is and you had to manually remove its files later and that it may have changed game values while active? How long has JakeMac been using this in his games? I don't think a trainer like you are describing would be possible in MP with a Steamworks game. The most you could do would be fiddle with client side files like your stats, name, etc.

These are very serious allegations bordering on a scandal that could bring down the whole Goldlist of Skilled Sins players like a house of cards. I demand that JakeMac appear and explain himself! Come on Jake - I know you are reading this - I know you are only 12 but I'm sure you can express yourself well enough in written form as evidenced by Exhibit A provided by prosecutor Mr_Book in his opening address. Don't be shy Jake! The Sins Community is hanging on your every word!

Lol drama - Jakemac has a slim grasp on the English language but it seemed like he was saying he knows a cheat that helps him win yet it makes the game crash? It still doesn't make sense...

When you own a physical copy of a game you cannot "do whatever you want with it". It is still copyright material, you agree to an EULA, etc. etc. There is absolutely no difference to a Steam version. You can play the game in off-line mode. You can utilize the cloud to play on a different computer. If you are not engaging in illegal activity, it's highly unlikely your account is going to get suspended, let alone banned. People are just paranoid. The sales, the patches being up to d

What is player skill for the tiers based on? Right now it is based on, at best, "educated guesses" along the lines of "yeah I played with him a fe

I tried to make a mentor thread at one point and had a bunch of players like Red Ruby and Seleucia volunteer to help but it didn't amount to much. The few legit interested players that I added on steam turned out to be not that interested after all and didn't play much and soon dropped out of sight. I think part of the problem is that new players on ICO don't organize their own games very much - there is no reason there can't be a 5v5 "new" or "average" version of the skilled
First off, the smaller the map the harder AI is.
I think this is true for some maps, but not for the smallest - like Point Blank and Quickstrike - you can easily rush and overwhelm the AI before any of its unfair advantages on harder levels kick in to be a factor - it simply isn't able to handle and respond to rushes very well. On 15+ small planet maps, the advantages/cheats will kick in and it will be a lot harder.

Ha - that is funny - there has been a huge influx of new players - I could sort of see this if they built 2 civ labs when they should've gone military but in terms of ships there isn't really that much you can screw up that's irreversible, let alone quitting over. Did their build order involve scuttling their Homeworld by any chance? [e digicons]^_^[/e]

I'd disagree with that - MP players are generally very good team players. For starters, their awareness of what is going on over the whole map is much broader and faster. Good MP players recognize quickly where any imbalances are occurring and adjust as soon as possible. The problem is that pacts do not rank high on the immediate return scale. They are something you purchase when you have a large military and are feeling "comfortable". They are a luxury really. Of all benefits/featu

There are two main reasons I don't MP Sins: The first is I hate playing 4x speed, turning this otherwise almost turnbased game into a StarCraft'esque clickfest where DPS is more important than strategy. The second is having to play people taking the game so seriously they forget it's just that. No, I'm sure you

It's true - sometimes you don't have a choice. The tricky part is when to colonize them. On the front line you need to prioritize military/fleet and be able to defend yourself. If I'm stuck with 1 or 2 roids/moons only and the rest volcanic or ice I'll build up a huge fleet first and once I have some breathing room then work on the resource planets. It's doubly tricky if one of those resource planets leads to your HW though - you want to make sure the enemy doesn&

VeteranPlayer was the eco on our team. It's been quite a while so I don't recall the other team's eco - it was a newish player who was good at the basics but lacked experience. I can't remember if they said 1.04 to 1.1 would destroy replay compatability or not. Were you able to get the game to play?
