[quote who="tyr222" reply="16" id="2063551"]the balance has been made in the circle of "carrier Replace "hypothetical unit" with "carriers" and you have the same circle as mentioned earlier (with added LRF).

Out of curiosity, what level are the AIs on? While normally it would have been a good idea to go after and eliminate red, since he is between you and your ally, the map in this case says otherwise. You have an easy choke to defend against red, while the map against your other two opponents is wide open. I would have given red a little more leeway and camped out on Pindarus. Build tons of repair bays and leave a small fleet (2-3 caps and 20-30 LRMs + some balancing units depending on w
Kharma, I think you are overreacting a bit. I don't know what it was like in 1.0, but even if seiges were twice as strong as they are now, that strategy would easily be countered just by massing LFs, upgrading emergency facilities, and rapid expanding.
I would like to see a guideship that can lead other ships to planets without regard to phase lanes. It should probably not be able to go as fast as other ships using phase lanes, but much faster than in the gravity well. This would add a whole new element to the strategy, and might even make seige frigates useful! Capital ships should not be allowed to be moved this way, however, as that would just be way too powerful.
Hoshikos have heavy armor, so anything that attacks well vs. heavy armor (LF, support, bombers, HC...) would be good against them, you just need to make sure you have a lot more of them then he has hoshikos or they will just sit there and look stupid.
If all you care about is the achievement, just play point blank and send your Sova to the other guy's planet with embargo asap. Get another point of capital ship research and then send a marza over. Even on unfair he doesn't stand a chance.
Thanks! I never noticed this option. Seems like it should give more money (in long run) for resources that I've just been quick-selling.
Gain 15,000 credits from other players buying your resources. How do you get this achievement? It's not clear to me how you can sell your resources to other players.
Just to supplement Myles' excellent response. 2. The crystal is needed because of the research he needs to build (including two civilian stations) and the civilian infrastructure upgrade. You won't have nearly enough to do this without buying crystal. Also, in multiplayer, everyone buys crystal, so it's good to be the first before the market booms. 5. Escape facilities = Emergency facilities. 6. I think he means the resource refineries.
A good resource for beating the AI can be found here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/301605 I'll try to answer some of your specific questions, but the post above is a much better strategy guide than I can give you. Hard gets a resource advantage (I think they accumulate it at 1.5x speed, though others may correct me on that). This allows them to do much more in the beginning than is usually possible. It sounds like you play TEC. As that faction, I think the mos
Thanks for that. Though it seems contradictory to have them in hold position when you then say that they will get owned if they are standing still. If he has a capital ship guarding his LRFs, how do I manage the fighters, or is the natural circling the best option in that scenario, and I should put them in hold when attacking unguarded targets?
I'm hoping that the pros out there will be willing to give some tips regarding how to micromanage different unit types. I've watched many replays of people stomping me, but I can't figure out what their units are doing differently than mine. In the first battle, I usually have about as many units as they have, but their fleets pretty destory mine, and then I can't recover economically. I know to focus fire by unit type and have units attacking what they are good at destroying, and even kite m
