Even if they do make culture a lot better across the board, the next affect would still be to make the AI easier.
Good point. It would have to depend on how much AI culture were buffed if this route were taken. Leaving everything else alone and onl

I'd feel bad to just tell you guys to improve the AI so you can be more easily swayed to buff culture as I'm sure that's no easy task.. That said, AI improvements are never something I'm against. If buffing it in a conventional way isn't feasible, is there some potential to buff it in some way that works better against humans

This would be my wishlist for a sins 2, I suppose Advanced Settings to granularly fine-tune handicaps for all players including neutral militia, pirates, and occupation planet forces (e.g. give a mix of resource, research, combat bonuses). instead of having planets connected by phase lanes, have rotating solar systems connected by phase lanes (ships could move about solar systems more freely). Gas giants with colonizable moons. Research to increase ship movement speed<

I do like that areia drone hosts shouldn't create useless mine squads anymore. I like the AR resurrection/reanimation buffs as well. Maybe we can see some buffs to culture or culture bonuses in the future. "U pdated Protection of the Unity CultureShieldRegenAmount to a max of 150% at level 3. Note you will only get the full benefit if your ships are within a fully saturated region of your culture." Maybe more like this? <b
That said, I believe in Sins all the "True" planets (Terran, Desert, Ice, Volcanic) are the exact same size, so I don't think that really helps either.
it would be interesting if there were planets with lower/higher surface gravity than average and they got a buff or nerf to tax income because of the energy requirements to sustain a colony. You know, automatic planet bonuses l

Do Jandrew's Edits count? I like the one about Data's special project. it's a a double-double at the end. I kid, but these videos are actually why I started re-watching TNG and the others, although I loved them when they first aired too.

Given that it requires, what, 4 labs and all the culture pre-reqs, it's probably most useful when capturing using the titan to capture worlds deep in enemy territory so you have time to throw up some other structures without being overthrown. That's all i can think of.

8 Replies 8,016 Views

Based on the tooltips, I think you're correct that per culture structure, Advent's culture isn't stronger per se. It will just move into "empty" grav wells faster with the research and maybe overpower enemy culture faster if you have more temples than the enemy. It does feel like you need to put up some culture centers mainly to prevent your worlds being overthrown. I guess Advent could be a little more offensive with it using evangelization nodes or more and c

The magnetic field is due to the core spinning rather quickly, a result of it being molten...a cooled planet with no molten core with have a much weaker magnetic field...radioac

I wonder if the thickness of dust clouds in space varies because those clouds eventually condense into stars. I'm ok with dark clouds in Sins skyboxes since many of them look like they are far enough away that they could block light coming to you. But I only like the dark ones. That bright blue one looks like it's happening in our atmosphere to me.
While it is certainly true having active thermal activity is considered important for a planet to support life, and radioactivity in the core allows large planets to keep it longer, just having it proves nothing. Distance from the Sun and atmospheric composition are probably more important. Or is that not your point?
Goa, I believe you are correct that distance from the sun (i.e. any

redirected from a question in another thread. i didn't want to tie up a thread about game balance with this. The heat released from radioactive decay helps the moltenness. Other factors are in play but radioactivity will keep a planet hotter, longer. The spinning of a molten core creates a magnetic field to block out harmful solar radiation; this makes Earth-like life possible. Terran planets in Sins are more likely to fit this bill. For desert pl
Another way of nerfing this ability would be limiting it to deserts and terrans (make up some nerdy lore explanation), which, additionally, turn into normal asteroids instead of dead ones. Way more balanced IMO.
The ability requires that a core be radioactive to power the reaction and molten for the titan to siphon it off. The planet's metal-crystal ratio also needs

I'm fine if I have to keep a colony frigate in the grav well before jumping, jiving, and wailing. I just think it's odd that it wasn't in the change logs so I reported it as a bug (I also think it's odd that the change logs aren't stickied and titans keep their levels, but maybe I'm the one that's crazy). Seleuceia, that possibility would be a huge buff to TEC if it were implemented since the Coronata's planet stealing ability doesn't work on

Not sure if this was an intentional or not, but JJBuck2 saw that Enduring devotion does not keep a planet under your control after using Wail of the Sacrifice (first reported here ). As a counter example, fleet supply doesn't drop as your ships get blown up. If you lose a huge battle, your economy is crip

Just because they can clone doesn't mean that it makes sense for them to multiply willy-nilly. The Vasari may be reproducing slowly because of their nomadic history. They simply can't put down too many roots because they know they'll have to move on at some point. They could be trying to maintain an optimum steady state, just enough to keep the race moving and absorb war losses. Your alternative makes more sense to me.

Ok, I loaded Rebellion up real quick before posting this to check. From a lore perspective, I actually wish the Vasari Rebels still had Enslaved Labor and here's why: Alliances aren't always about international friendship and agreements and a shared vision for the future. Sometimes they are about expediency and survival. (BSG fans will do well to remember the final season). Sometimes, states have to play nice with people they hate, people whom th
