"Can be easily fixed in the future ", I said that for a couple reasons ... 1. The Sins Optimization Project ... need I say more. 2. A lot of the new meshes in this mod can be optimized 3. Prior to the release of this mod I was working on 1 & 2. Also I said 'easily' relative to a different issue of - game lag on large maps, large fleets and lots of players. Fun,fun, fun ... many enjoyable hours of modding ahead!.
"If you were able to play on high or highest, I can assure you, you'd smack into the wall just like everyone else who is using those settings." ... incorrect. I and many others have played games with higher settings than the recommended with no graphics problems. Unfortunately, Maelstrom at this stage works best for newer systems with dedicated graphics cards. Can be easily fixed in the future ... if necessary.
So you are using an integrate Graphics Chipset... Firstly, Recommended Game Setup, Effects Settings for Maelstrom * Planet : Detail - Highest * Ship : Detail - Highest, Extras - High, Bump - Low * Building : Detail - Highest, Extras - High, Bump - Low * Show Planet Elevators - Off If you still have problems ... lower
What is your Graphics Card? When you say "highest graphic settings" what are the following settings 1. Planet : Detail 2. Ship : Detail, Extras, Bump 3. Building : Detail, Extras, Bump What stage of the game? What race's are playing?
Yes "Entrenchment is in beta" however crashes are associated with a couple of abilities. Graphics minidumps would be caused by hitting the 2Gb RAM limit or the PC being underspeced and/or not setup correctly (latest drivers).
Hi HapesConsortium, Your minidump appears to be the first of its type reported. Can you give me: 1. PC Spec's: OS, Core, RAM, GPU 2. What map, what races? 3. What stage in the game does it crash? 4. What are your effects settings?
Nothing wrong with your game or PC. Maelstrom Entrenchment is a beta only. It has a couple of bugs ... or more specifically cetain modifiers are handled diffenetly in Entrenchment compared to Sins Original. So when I translated the Maelstrom Mod to Entrenchment the abilities did not translate 100%. We are talking about maybe 3. The problems involve the Norlamins and Replicators and a few of their abilities. The TradeAlliance I think is ok. <
"Suggestion: for the next version of the mod, why don't you add an organic race" ... good idea, however its a matter of resources and hence game performance. The current mod takes the counts on meshes, textures and sound files close to the hardcoded limits of the game. Replacing a player is possible. Lets finish the mod up to Diplomacy and we can re-visit the suggestion then. In the meantime you can give me your impressions of the mod.
Hi loooseer, 1. "Maelstorm" and "Maelstorm Expansion" are two different mods. The "Maelstrom" mod = "Maelstrom Expansion" mod + Dreadnoughts. A Dreadnought is a very large and powerful Capitalship that once researched and is at level 6 or beyond can be transformed into a
Good thought, shield mesh = ship mesh ... not sure if people would complain or notice. I have tried it both ways. Having shields does add interest, that is, up close, but ...
For for Original Sins Races (and 3 new races) I use the following "bubble" shields, Shields_Capital_Large.mesh, Shields_Capital_Small.mesh Shields_Cruiser_Large.mesh, Shields_Cruiser_Small.mesh Shields_Frigate_Large.mesh, Shields_Frigate_Small.mesh That's 6 not 60 (original races) [+60 (say for the new races)]! I said, "Of course, in this process you have changed the visuals for shield impacts.", you said "No it will not effect the visuals for shield impacts
I would like to ask about shield meshes for ships and structures. Sins has about 60, entrenchment/diplomacy add an additional 10-20. So in total you have between 60-80 different shield meshes. As you know there are two general types: conformal (follow the ship/structure shape) and non-conformal (typically tear shaped). Of the race's the TEC's generally use non-conformal shields while the Advent and Vasari use conformal shields. If you make all your shield meshes non-conformal
Sorry to hear of your problems. I haven't heard anyone with these problems. Which mod are you playing Maelstrom, Maelstrom Expansion or Maelstrom Entrenchment? It could be a combination of your hardware and the mod. Can you give me your hardware specs: Processor, RAM, Video Card? What Operating System are you running? What are your Effects settings? I recommended the following Mod Setup: Effects Settings 1. Planet
Hi Major Stress , Thanks for your hard work and insights ... you're taking Sins and Sins Modding to a new level! In terms of game slowdown ( framerate ), in my development I have notice that some abilities can be CPU hogs, that is when you have say 20,30,40, ... ships using the same ability. </p
Thanks for the feedback ... keep it coming.
Your request has been noted and I agree .. but don't expect to see them changed soon as I am working on the Entrenchment mod and the Diplomacy mod is around the corner.
Hi Washuluver87 , The biggest battles I've had is with the mod for original Sins on a Huge Random single.
Hi Tyndaria , To answer your questions ... - Music by Albert Alvarez, Marc Riedinger , Even Rossland ( http://www.renderosity.com/index. php ) - Coxxon - B
You get to play with six different races. 3 great originals and 3 new ones. Fun, fun, fun!
Don't worry we 'll get there eventually!
Well that could be a problem. Set the levels for Ship Extras, Ship Bump, Building Extras, Building Bump to low or medium. If you still have problems you might like to try reducing the levels for Planet Detail, Ship Detail, Building Detail, from Highest to high. The Maelstrom Mod has approximately twice the number of mesh/textures as the original game. It is un-optimized, and as such will very quickly hit the 2 GB limit.
More specifically ... What levels on Ship Extras, Ship Bump, Building Extras, Building Bump? Ultimately I am wondering if you are going over the 2GB memory limit of Sins, which can be monitored in your "Windows Task Manager" (Ctrl+Alt+Delete)
What are your setting in the Effects Menu for Planet Detail, Ship Detail, Buidling Detail?
Thanks its helpful. By the way what other races were you playing? I don't think its a problem with the planet. Those blinking Norms! Trouble makers from the start!! I must admit that I typically play as the Replicators ... maybe give them a try. If memory serves me correctly autosave is by default every 15 mins . So changing the variable to 300 for 5 min save intervals. I must of reinstalled Sins since changing t
