IMHO the most important part if you make tactical comabt is the feeling that your decisions really affect the outcome, that there are changing situations that you must react to.Your manoevres really must make a difference, flanking , attacking from rear, possibly ambushes, scouting for those with special units, advantages/disadvantages of terrain...I love empire total war land combat because it is first game for as long as i can remember that actually takes it into account (some of it) .Also

I would agree wioth aesir, new, orginal doesnt mean good ... In fact there are plenty of games who tried so hard to be original it didnt do well for their main purpose and thats fun:) Look on the game concept its 4x game wich is something very old and used , but its done becuase poeple (means us:)) like it. With lots of improvement over the original ideas of course.Same for fantasy setting , imho classic creatures are tons of fun.I mean that using old ideas and improving over
"evolving map" sums it up nicely [quote who="pigeonpigeon" reply="2" id="2326120"]An evolving world with little tidbits of information like rumor, people's opinions, descriptions and that kind of stuff would be great. Much of it wouldn't be functional, but it would definitely make the world feel more alive. Things that do change the actual world would be great, too - huge battles, particularly where lots of magic was used, could gain some sort of importance. How such an

I'm hoping for spells like vampirism and drain life in combination with massively powerful stat hits on the enemy. Death magic doesn't need to be a bunch of devestating attack spells, it's the perfect place to have the best physical debuffs, which are just like buffing your own troops when it comes to survival.[
What imho many strategic games lack is the feeling you actually change the world you play in, that its a live world. I think i read there will be some cool graphic effects on the map, wich is great. I was thinking about more of those tiny cool touches that were sometimes present in galciv 2 for example on the tab of the planet you could read a short history of the planet including the time you conquered it (your input) or reading the people opinion
Currently in many games evil sides have powerfull destructive powers while good side healing/reparing.In case of GalCiv it was defensive offensive bonuses. While at some role palying level it was cool , i alwys had a problem with this as i love to play as evil:) and create ultra powerful veteran units , to preserve wich you need defense+healing/repairing. In some games it was nearly a game breaking exp for me , for example in age of wonders series without your
Actually i love the graphics i have seen , i love the fact they are so other and fantasy-feeling.I tottaly disagree they are bad.
Yep infinie tech and random based is great , so far in 4x games alwys you got at some point to a moment when your reserarch didnt matter anymotr cause it was maxed wich was tottaly unrealisitc and unbalanced for reasearch focused parties.
