Okay, i'm just curious as to what people think are the Greatest Advantage and Greatest Disadvantage of each of the races. Personally, i think the following- TEC- Good Balance of Weapon Power and Antimatter-Based abilities being useful, but at the same time, not the best in either category, leaving them as somewhat of a Multi-Class of sorts, not overpowering in either aspect. Advent- Best Antimatter Based Abilities and Strikecraft Usa

I disagree. I just played a game where i used 5 Skirmishers and a Skirantra to clear my first five planets (Yes, it's a capitol, but doesn't even equal 3 Skirmishers in firepower and was only targeted in one grav well) And i didn't lose a single Skirmisher to that endeavor. You just have to know how to use the ship. They are weak, so use ships that can heal them, and research Reintegration. (Both Skirantra and Overseer heal other ships, why have a Capi

Good point. Also, why are Vasari the only ones intelligent enough to spread propaganda that lessens pirate raids? Anyone can send a message saying something like "Your presence will not be tolerated. P.S. We have bigger guns." Oversimplified, but true. As for Pirate Capitol Ships, if anyone is familiar with Uzii's mod, which integrated derelict shipyards, some of those were weakened Capitols. How about something like that. (P.S., Der

Maybe not ground to space weapons, but how about letting the planet itself house its own squadrons of Fighters/bombers (Say, 2-4 maybe?) as a free passive defense off the getgo. Even with a disadvantage for them(200% replacement build time, maybe, to account for launch time from the planet to space?) Just a thought... As for those who say there would be targetting problems from the surface with weapons, (Just to silence that argument once and for all)&nb
Well, luckily, not all homing mines will explode if triggered by the scout, they will just end up in a different spot. On a side note, I find it fun to run a capital ship through homing mines for some reason. About 50 mines will kill a cap though...
I had about 30-35 Mines detonate on my Kol, (lvl 7, i think,) and lost it.

A group of the extreme-range starbase killers is also a good addition to a fleet if this sort of thing is common, esspecially if there are no enemy ships in the area. Send in these and anything with fighters first. Also, if you're filthy rich and the SBs are literally right where you exit phase space, drop a hornet's nest of scouts in about three seconds before your main fleet launches. You'll likely lose them all, but your core fleet should survive unscathed, or at t

Vasari need fallback points with which to reintigrate their LFs and drop mines to damage their opponent without sustaining damage themselves- Even if they send a scout ahead, you gain time to regenerate health in your bread and butter ships, the LFs and HCs. Gravity mines, even better- Suggest a mix of the two if you can afford it.

Not to be repetative, but i cannot emphasise how important it is to have at least a few fighter squadrons with any fleet, if only to counter the enemy's own strikecraft. Also, i know Fighters are strong against a couple frigates- Long range, and Siege, so they aren't a waste- A good ratio is two figters to one bomber, since you'll preferably have larger sources of damage against enemy ships. On a side note, if you get high enough to get returning armada,

The research requires three other researches as prerequisites. Combined with the 2-lab cost, it's hardly the kind of thing that you can use for a quick rush. For the same price an Advent player could easily field illuminators. I'm not saying Vasari are the best choice, personally, i prefer TEC, but a decent player should be able to use any race and not have to rely on them all being basically the same. And as far

It seems a little late in the scheme of things to add Capitols, especially after the ammount of cash that would have been spent on all sides developing and deploying the Starbases. Still, it would be a way to shake up tactics even more, and ultimately they've left themselves no choice- The Capitol Ships are balanced to do what the whole list of Frigates/Cruisers can, but not the other way around, so a completely new Cruiser would mean a required new Capitol Ship if the

It depends on my intended plan, but i usually go with: TEC, in general. I tend to run out of cash quickly even with their enhanced income, building whatever strikes my whimsy... Vasari, in games where there are a lot of TEC Players, mostly to break from the crowd, but a mid-level Skirantra is a scary thing when it's staring you down from behind a fleet of Twenty Skirmishers and assorted Support Craft (Overseers, Subverters, etc) Advent, When i want a true ch

Covenant will lose without fail due to the frailty of their ships- 2-3 MAC Rounds (Equivalent to even the maxed out Kol's Gauss Gun in concept) ripped even the largest Covenant ships apart, shields and all. Those same 3 rounds don't even hardly tickle a Devastator's Shield. (I assume you include Capitols in this scenario.) Conclusion- A Salvo of Phase Missiles, equivalent to a salvo of Archers from a UNSC Ship, even with the lowest Bypass Capa

Back on topic, the skirmishers needed to be more expensive (I mean Command Points) to counter the research-focussed from having an all-too-powerful force of twenty or so ships that can stagger regenerating their hulls-"Reintegration", and walk all over a force of even twice their size, with heavy casualties, but a win nonetheless every time. This ability can be researched with just your capitol planet if you build just military labs, though it is admitadly expensive

I believe Altaux was refering to the Kostura cannon, Vasari's Superweapon, which cripples or destroys enemy ships and structures in a gravity well, as well as temporarily acting as a stabilizer node to the target world. But Advent are still the better Culture Masters. Even more when using their Deliverance Engine in a one two punch (Kill caps and media structures while the cannon is firing, you may just finish before it strikes on a large enough map, then build yo

The Sova is absolutely my favorite Capitol, and always the one i pick first, though i admit i have played very few human vs human matches, by the time we even met eachother on the map, (I always play the biggest) we both had a good 3 or 4 capitols, so it didn't make that much of a difference. I just see the Sova as being a fleet all by itself if you pick your squadrons right (4 Fighter, 3 Bomber) And upgrade the missile turrets and heavy strikecraft, in that order, you shou
