3 Frigs (Logistic=15) will get slaughtered against a nightmare torp! I balance research between hull sizes and logistics whichever is shorter to do I research that one. I've had fleets with 9+ Frigs in before I unlocked large hulls and the reverse is also true (had 2 Huge hulls with 25 logistics)

As MarvinKosh says plus I reduce tax to 31% and prod to 60% from turn 1 and if entertainment centres dont help much with approval I research extreme entertainment but it also depends on what difficulty level you have the game on?

I'm from the UK and managed to buy Gal Civ 2:Dreadlords and then Ultimate edition on disk in the shops and now use ultimate edition exclusively and it gives you the option to switch chapter Dread lords/Dark Avatar/Twilight when you click the on-screen icon and the play/edit menu comes up before you start the game proper so you can choose for yourself which to play.As for the download options I would have to defer to marvinKosh for advice on that but as far as I know once your register you

Or you could go with the scenario "war of the gods" (or similarly worded) that gives you all techs from the start? or playing the different races? or like Marvinkosh and LTjim suggest try modding your game or download some of the ones in the library? or use the game editors?

Depending on logistics I tend to go for standard military tactics (most of the time) I group tiny and small hulls together in 1 fleet, medium hulls in a fleet of their own and large and huge on their own but I also put 1-2 huge hulls with lots of tiny/small hulls as a battle/carrier group where the smalller ships take the brunt of the damage while the huge hulls dish out the damage to the enemy.I have also mixed and matched different hull sizes within fleets in the past to mixed result
