I'm thinking that it would depend on planet type seeing that all inhabited planets have a militia and therefore a ground side populace with Terran planets requiring the most ground occupation forces and Asteroids and Dead Asteroids requiring the least. Why is it that whenever you colonize a neutral plnet that still has defenders in orbit do neutral siege frigates bomb their own planet?

Yes, but the planetary bombardment we see in Sins is repairable, while Covenant planet glassing causes permament damage to the planetary surface.

Why does it cost so much to build and upgrade Civilian Infrastructure on planets that you've just bombarded?

Why don't Pirate Bases normally have population, despite having a large settlment on it? Also, when they do have population and you upgrade Civilian Infrastructure, why doesn't the population increase?

Darvin, if population represents surface settlements that are under your control, how would you explain the Vasari Colony Pods for their Orkulus Starbases?

You konw how the Kostura Cannon frys electrical systems and yet it does not destroy any planetary infrastructure, yet the majority of it would probably be running on electricity? Why wouldn't it destroy any planet infrastructure on impact? <sp

If the planets have a Sentient civilization on them when you colonize what happens to their Governments when your colony pods land?

Yes,but the ruling faction would probably imprison the rebellious colonists and confiscate their property and possessions and they would probably execute a few rebellious natives, which would lead to further unrest and plus the planetary ground forces would probably join the rebels and realizing the colony was lost the ruling faction would destroy their own infrastructure for whatever reason.
