There is definitely an ice planet entity file. Are you modifying all of the planet entity files? There are a few entity files for each planet type, for example, there's the normal ice planet file but then there's also an ice planet "fair" file. It sounds like you're not editing all the necessary files so you end up with some planets that you have edited allowing more than one star base and the others that have slipped through the net only allowing one. Copy all the p

Sorry guys but there will be a slight delay in the release. I've struggled for time over the last 2 months so have made very little progress. There will definitely be a release in 2014 but I'm not going to pressure myself with a deadline. I've set up a page on ModDB, it doesn't give you any more information that's already available here but it will be home to the download link when it's ready. <a href="http://www.moddb.com/mods/dark-space/#4418899" targ

If you don't know where to start to do that, it's probably easier if you just play the game using the DEV tool in the main game folder. Then once the game is started press 'CTRL' 'SHIFT' and '.', this will give access the DEV tool and let you have infinite slots, instant build times and loads more stuff.

No more modern day ships. You start with the space shuttle and upgrade that. The first military ships are the ones with rotating sections. The distinction lies with their cost, speed, armour, firepower and abilities.

I'll see what I can do. It won't be within the next week though, I'm just too busy at work. I'll just quickly give you an update on what has changed: General Improved map, now each system has jump points leading to other systems. Means that certain worlds have massive tactical importance. Stars can no longer be colonised. Gorg ships improved making them tougher and fast

No thanks MajorVader, the beta will be ready soon and is a major improvement. I released the alpha version just for some feedback and to give people a preview of what's to come. feel free to update it for your personal use though, just don't release it. I think it was the 1.56 version of convert data but can't be 100% sure.

Maxaccelerationlinear controls acceleration speed in a straight line. maxspeedlinear controls the overall max speed.

I'll be releasing the beta version in the next 3 weeks. I'm going to set up a post on ModDB as a permanent home for any download links. The beta version is a massive improvement on the alpha version. Watch this space for a release date 😉

I've managed to change the font of the planet names, but is there a way to have different fonts for different types of planets? For example a larger font for terran, volcanic but smaller font for asteroids etc...

Isn't there an option to have fixed start locations in the galaxy file? I'm sure it's at the top of the file. Then in the galaxy file just find the planet you want to start on, make it your home planet and put player0 (or whatever player number you are) in the planet owner line.

If you simply edit the playertech.entity file in the GameInfo folder, so that the ship you want to exclude is not included in the ship list then it shouldn't appear in the game. There's no need to actually delete the entity file that refers to the ship.

I am trying to edit some of the new DLC planet entity files but can't seem to convert them from BIN. Is this a protection feature or is my conversion tool faulty? I am also interested in what the DLC number refers to in some of the files? Is this to stop the files being posted in mods which would let people who haven't purchased the DLC use them?

Work continues at a good pace. I'm away from home for the next few weeks for work so there will be a lull in progress. I'll have to pay some attention to the wife and kids when I get home so don't expect any update or release till after the new year. I don't need any help thanks. I've updated all the files to version 1.80. Loads of new ships and extras have been added. Existing ships have been improved. A new Milky Way map has been created with jump points ad

I was wondering if it's possible to change the letter size and the font of the planet and star names. I have a very large map I'm working on and it all looks a bit cluttered and untidy. It's difficult to pick out a Stars name when zoomed out due to the planet names around it blocking it. I want to change it so planet names are shown in small text and the Star names shown in a larger text with maybe a different font or colour. Does anyone know if this is even
I put entityName "AbilityGravityWarheadA.entity" at the bottom of the manifest file, then i increase the number at the top by 1. I'm installing this as a mod in the mod folder.
I assume from the above you're still having trouble with this? What Goafan and myfist are saying is right. You need to check the basic stuff, are there any spelling mistakes? Are you updating the entity

I suppose it depends on the person if releasing an early version butchers motivation. Personally, I found it the opposite. The feedback and comments encouraged me. I never suggested that modders were short on good ideas, by the very fact that they're modders means that they have plenty. I simply meant that by releasing the mod allows more people to see the project developing and add their input and ideas to the next version. The old phrase "two heads are better than one" sum

I agree it's frustrating when a mod is never released but please remember a lot of effort is put into creating them. I think your comments are unfair, real life does get in the way and spending just a few minutes updating a forum is not a priority! I'd always encourage modders to release early versions for feedback on gameplay and to get some good ideas to include. Care less comments could quite easily make a modder think "the hell with it!", and not bother releasing it.

Thanks Aresiv, I'lll have a look at mega. I've tried those ones harpo and experienced problems. Anyway, I don't want this to turn into a "best upload site thread"! Any thoughts on my ideas mentioned above about the astronauts? Another update, I've changed the research field, you now research a company which unlocks ships/structures etc. For example, researching StarLink industries unlocks several structures which improve hyperspace travel. I'v

Use the 3d object converter tool to convert the 3ds file to obj format. Then open it in softimage. import the obj file rather than open it in softimage. As far as I understand Sins models need to be exported as an xsi file before being converted to a mesh file.

I'm away from my computer at the minute so can't remember the exact name of the program I use. I will have a look tomorrow night for you. I use a 3ds to obj converter, Ill get back to you on the name. Then use Softimage to convert that to xsi and then the covertxsi tool with sins to a mesh file! Im sure there's an easier way but it works for me! All the tools I use are listed on this forum somewhere! Edit: just had
