Yes, please post the files when completed. I saw these a while back when he first started on them but I didn't want to register at yet another forum just to download them. Let him know this is great work and I'm sure they will be very popular downloads from the library.

Are there any updated drivers for your LCD monitor? And yes, there are drivers for monitors. :D
I had similar specs to you although an x800 with a 22 inch widescreen. I found that my system just couldn't power that monitor properly and I built a new computer. Having said that I had a lot of success player this game on the old computer with these settings. Ran the game at 1440x900 (which is actually my desktop resolution is, 1650 is just too darn small for my old eyes). Turn off all AA and AF. AA even at x2 will really kill your framerates at this high resolutio
Wow was that podcast painful at first. Holy Cow what a bunch of crud for the first half hour. For those just wanting to listen to Brad, fast forward to around 38 minute mark. Everything before is worthless.
So I finally had to install Steam. With my new video card I got the Black Box for free. So of course Steam had to be installed. All I can say is that Steam is a huge bag of suck. Just to play a game you have to run this 60 MB+ memory hog? Please. And you have to be on the Internet just to play single player. Worst. System. Ever. Stardock's system is so much better. You just use it to download and install your game and you're done. No need to be connected to the Internet or ru
I don't buy games on the internet, so I do have an excuse. Even if I did, $30 is a lot for a video game.
Well here is the thing. For *you* $30 may be a lot for a video game but $30 is dirt cheap for a game. Normally a game is $49-$59 on release. It will take at least a year to get that price down to $30 and that assumes it's a crappy game. Usually takes a couple years to get a game down under $30 and most games don't go under $20-25 unless it's really old. Only real
And in the options are all the key maps active in the game.
I just build a new computer, first one in over 4 years. I would have loved to get an 8400/Wolfdale *but you can't find one anywhere* actually for sale cause they are constantly sold out. So I went with the E6850. With that, 2 gigs of RAM and an ATI Sapphire HD3870 Toxic my machine is screaming and I don't overclock anything (The Sapphire Toxic is factory overclocked though). I was already running Sins pretty well on my ancient P4 2.8 ghz with ATI x800 but had some stuff turned off an
Why? That would mean you'd have to run Vista [shudder]. I'm building a brand new high end PC and I'm putting XP on it. Now way I'm touching Vista.
Nice job. I'll have to try this. And I completely understand this because it's the way "shortcuts" and "pointers" work in the document management system I support that uses Oracle as it's back end.
bonscott, maybe I'm missing entirely what you're trying to say, but there is no general "My Documents" or "Application Data" folder for all users at once. There is one for each and every user account that's on a modern Windows machine. Thus, I believe Sins is in compliance because it is putting its info in the appropriate Application Data folder (which resides in each user profile). For hahas, I'm looking at my games that have Games For Windows logos, and here's the scoop:Crysis: save ga
Now that we can increse and decrease the speed with the + and -, unless I'm missing something I don't find a way to tell at what speed the game is at. So please display somewhere on the UI what speed the game is at. I remember the old Sim City 2000/3000 had speed settings of Turtle, Llama and Cheata. Something even as simple as +1, +2, -1, etc. would be nice. Thanks!
I agree with everything you said except for the part about putting the files in the My Documents/Games folder. For people like myself that doesn't fix the problem because My Documents/Games cannot be moved off the C Windows drive.Technically, this is not correct. As discussed, there are means to do this built into windows. They're not easy to find nor perform, and can be dangerous, but they are there. For most people, installing everything on one great big partition is easy and effective,
Complain to Microsoft, unfortunately. Microsoft guidelines require that application data be stored under the user profile. This becomes especially true in Vista, where you cannot even modify an item in Program Files without elevating to Admin. We deal with the same thing at my job... the customers might not like it, but it's Microsoft's call, not ours.
Then as I've asked a few times already, why do other games that are "Games for Windows" not store things in the user pro
I really like those new portraits but I'm not going to register on a forum to download them. Good job though. Put them in the file library here. :D
As a side note you can also change the default location your program files folder to the drive and folder of your choice, to save space on your System Volume. If you're looking for more ways to reduce the usage of your System Volume (By the way, this typically means the C:) you can also find ways to move your page file, hybernation file, and Temporary folders off of this drive, which will prevent the disk usage from changing dynamically.Or, you could just make your System Volume bigger to
I agree, but sadly, I believe this is a requirement if a developer/publisher wants that darned "Games For Windows" logo on their box. Blarg.-HM
As I posted it can't be. I have yet to see a Games for Windows certified game (that I have installed anyway) that does this. Sins is the only one. So it can't possibly be a requirement unless all those other companies are violating it and Microsoft ignored it during certification.
I know this has been brought up before but I am begging Ironclad to get the saved games, screenshots, mods and replays out of the Windows profile. I'm on XP by the way. This isn't about finding them as a shortcut can make that easier, but it's about disk space. I, like most gamers I'd think, have a small C drive for just Windows and not much else and then larger D, E, etc. partitions for our programs and games. My C drive is 15 gig for example. Sins is quickly fil
I don't think you'll have a problem. I have a 4+ year old Pentium 4 2.8 ghz which is just single core. Dual core didn't even exist yet when I bought it. 2 gigs of RAM 2+ year old video card - Radeon x800 GTO 256 meg. Pretty low end nowadays. And I run at 1440x900 on my widescreen monitor with everything set to at least high and a few to highest with no slowdowns other then in some really massive battles. Even then frames still stay above 20 so it's not too bad. <
Argggggggg :CONGRAT:
on one of the only 3 player maps available that I could see.
Huh? There are over 2 dozen maps from small (1 star/20 planets, 1 to2 AI) to huge (6+ stars and over 150 planets with half a dozen AI or more). Plus the random maps. Plus the fact you can easily create your own maps to your taste. Methinks you might want to look at your options a bit more. ;)
Yeah I actually feel kind of stupid. I read the manual for the first time after I posted (while at a business meeting lol) and saw that its just their colony ship. I was going to say...for a "mother ship" it looked kind of small. xDThanks for the helpful replies though.
Well, it's not "just" their colony ship. It just has that ability. It's the same as the TEC Akkan Battlecruiser that you have which can also colonize. But it's big, it's bad and the Advent have differen
Just like traffic and roads. You and the AI can only travel from system to system via the phase lanes (roads). So look where they all might narrow down to just one or two planets before branching back out into your home planets.
Yes, it's getting more irritating with every game. And I don't think it's happening totally because of a rally point that wasn't reached by that ship. It seems to happen most with the last ship added to the fleet. Weird.
