Thanks. I've been seeing a lot of talk of demo and beta, but I can't find either. There's a huge green "Sign Up" button on the Endless Space site, but clicking that gets you an "Error 404" -- that's disheartening. Not even a download tab. Am I missing something?
That is just for the forum signup which works fine for me. You have to pre-order to play the beta on Steam.

The devs are planning a update at the end of this month. I expect this will be the multiplayer update, since they have a internal working build of multiplayer.

I like Steam. I've been with them since the beginning and they have never done me wrong. As others have said I buy games from them all. I almost never buy retail; the last thing I want is a cd/dvd that gets lost. IMO Steam and the other digital distributions services have been god-send for pc gaming.

Since 64 bit is the future of gaming, for those who don't know the next version of Frostbite 2 engine is going 64 bit only. Yes it currently powers the Battlefield shooters, but Command & Conquer Generals 2 will be using it. I'm sure there will be more titles using this engine as well. IMO it's about damn time. So I voted YES.

Why should I get in my car and drive 20 to 30 minutes to the store for a PC game when all that is needed is click, click, click, order placed, downloading. **** retail. BTW Gamestop I believe has seen the light since they now own Impulse. :) They got some good sales going on now. I think the new twist to gaming and making money is what Blizzard is doing with Diablo 3. They are supporting a real world currency auction house for in-game items. I think it will be interesting to see were

If anyone is interested in playing this game early, IGN Prime has beta keys that are good until 3 May. Of course you have to subscribe to IGN Prime. Which is a very nice time to do it; they gave King Arthur, Crusader Kings Complete, and Space Pirates and Zombies all for free. Also a permanent 15% discount for Gamersgate, so I pre-ordered Warlock for 17 bucks (pre-order include the DLC pack) not bad at all. Geez I sound like a salesman. Anyways I second everything Silicor said, fo
I don't want to promote competition, but I never heard of Warlock. I took a quick look and it looks cool ... because there is hexagons (I a an hexagon worshippper). But it sincerely looks like Civ V with magic. I hope this game would be modable, I could make a master of magic for that mod too. That could be interesting, 2 MOM mod on different games that share ressources like artwork, music and otehr stuff.

We're going to be making one for improvements too so that players can enable and disable their various improvements. I'd like to see one for all units and armies and such as well.
The city screen looks great. I love to see screens for the above too. [e digicons]:D[/e]

Both games make me want to cry. Civ 5 crash, crash, alright it works, 50 turns later crash, oh look 1.8 GB memory leak, crash, it's very frustrating. Elemental very rarely crashed on this system, but had very bad performance issues, gameplay balance issue, but at least I can finish a game. I can't with Civ. To be fair it could very well be compatibility issue with my crossfire setup. I kick myself for not waiting for demos.
I played 1 game in direct X 9 (no issues at max settings). Had to change a few things to get direct X 11 to run... strange, but did that. Let me know if you can't launch in direct X 11 and I can help. Played again in direct X 11 at max settings. No slowdown.
What did you change to get DX 11/10 to run? DX 11/10 crashes on me within the first few minutes of starting the game. DX 9 runs flawless for me. I have everything set to max except no AA. I am running two 4870 in c
Civ 5 has problems, has great reviews. But as you said is a better game at the end of the day. However I am still seeing a number of sites and new reports stating that the game has it flaws. And seeing several sites that posted 90-98 (out of 100) points on the game and then seeing 1up give it a C, gets me a tad bit confused on who or what to believe.
Now that I got some hours into Civ 5. I agree with the 1UP review. The AI needs work, diplomacy is weak, and I hate that
From what I've seen there are not really an unexpected problems, and most people, other than those who know their specs are on the low end, seem to be running mostly crash free.
Continues crashing when using the Civ5 recommend DX10/11 exe file, thats something I would call unexpected, there are plenty of posts on it over at 2K forums . DX9 works for me thankfully, or I'd really be pissed. Gameplay wise Civ
Here's my caveat... if Civ5 has huge CTD issues and a general hue and cry of lack of polish and features, I'll eat my hat. Hell, I'll BUY a hat just to eat it.
It has issues, I can't even get past the first turn using the recommend DX10/11 exe file. Crashes everytime. Thankfully they included a different exe for DX9.
I don't think many people realize how bad the original Galactic Civilizations was from a design point of view. But it didn't have technical
