While I am not 100% certain if it is caused by the mod but for some reason I am "Teamed" with the Drengings in the game I started after instelling the mod. I myself playing Torian. If you can say for sure, it's not the mod, what other circumstances may have caused this? Started a new game just to try and see: This time it's normal and they are neutral when I first meet them. Still very weird.

Am I right to assume that this mod is kinda a must have in order to enjoy this game properly? Or has Stardoch fixed anything themselves for the Ultimate Edition?
Next game was on a really big map... I had no clue about how to deal with that in the beginning and went broke. My economy has recovered since then but the Torians are so far ahead of anyone else that I take their win for granted. I'll play it out to see how they will win.
The only things I had not set to random were research speed (normal) and difficulty (tough). So what I got was a medium galaxy with only 2 opponents. Habitable planetes were extremely rare but anomalies were extremely abundant. I as Terran started in the middle of the galaxy while my 2 opponents Arceans and those extra evil Drengins started in the corners. Due to that layout I could add several more surveilance ships. I found so many bc-ressources that I never
-One of the Thalan Medium-Hulls is buggy, when I attach a module, it will appear on another position and is not removable other than using the "clear"-button. -When tech-trading is set to "off", opponents will still say "You are to poor to pay for our peacekeeping affords, so we demand a tech." Actually they are content with almost no money and no tech at all. -In my recent game the terrans started as brain-dead and did nothing but letting themselfes be conquered once someone had the app
I think the problem here, is that stardock was overly sufficient with believing, that their "Intelligent" level would beat 90% of the players, which I think is wrong. There are many slowly scaling lower difficulty-levels and only 2 above Intelligent. Look at Civ 4, there's only 2 Levels below Regent but a big bunch above. 5% Bonus to the AI, 10%, 20%, ... it scales smoothly upwards so anyone can find himself a suitable level where he has exciting games. In GC 2 there's jus
No Textures for non-english speaking people are intended. You can, however, trick this foreign-discriminating-mechanism by following the instructions in the thread linked by the above poster of myself.
I guess you are playing the english version on an non-english pc. I have the same bug here and it went away, when I set my system-language to english. You can do so via Start->System-Control->Region&Language-Options->regional settings. This does not affect the actual language of your system, it just makes that gfx-bug go away.
Did you take military bases into account? They boost both attack and defense by up tp 49% per starbase.
Have to say, I haven't run into any of the bugs I encountered in Beta 1. However, I was playings as Drengin and decided to go neutral once I discovered the tech that lets you decide. I had ~900 BC when I did so and it would cost me 2500. I should either go to -1600 or it should not work, right? Well, it did work but I did not lose more than the 900 I had. I came out at exactly 0 BC. I wonder what would've happened if I chose good for 10k also only a loss of 900?
Not agreed. If you want genocide to the race that surrendered, it is your problem to make it up with the empire it surrendered to. I really don't think there shall be any restrictions about to who a losing empire surrenders to as this often spices up the game.
I just clicked on the Colonies-Tab from the Governor-Menu and gone was the game. No error, no warning, just gone.
2. While I could not find any totally horribly bugs in the buildup of AI-planets (like 10 Entertainments on 1 planet, as in 1.11) there seems to be an issue regarding the homeworlds. While the AI developes any other planet in a way, I can agree with, they just ceased building on their homeworld when only half of it was filled. It is not that they would not have been to slo
Here is what I found: 1. The most and majorly annoying issue I have with that Beta-Patch is, that controlling my ships ain't what it used to be. Before the patch the ships where 1st doing there moves and then ship after ship without orders were selected to receive their new orders. This is no longer case. The ships are only semi-selected which means the status-bar shows that some ships are selected but I cannot order them around and they are not centered. I have to either click the sh
As you can see on the screen, it even did build factories and a starport first, if scripted or not. That does not change anything about the idiocy of having built so many nonsensical entertainments.
Well, I really think it's something about the specialization. The AI seems to aim for a balanced number of it's required structures and if it has enough Planets it seems to think that specialization is the way to go. It obviously does not consider that some buildings just do not make sense at all, when they are not combined with other buildings.
I can confirm this.
Obviuously the AI likes specialization when it comes to creating buildings on their planets. A good thing as far as research or production colonies are concerned. However, after seeing this: http://img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=111aibug7rx.jpg I think there is some serious bug in the coding of that. There was also another planet with 70% Farms but no Entertainment. Now if both planets had their fair share of both, they'd be good money-makers. But specializing on entertainment just
Yeah, the later and slower massdrivers look totally stupid. When they are shot, they fly into a direction where nothing is. But eventually one of the enemies ships will fly just into where it is going. "Look ma, I catch it, I catch it!" Reason for me to use beam-weapons most of the time.
I think the problem they are seeing with it is, that in the beginning of the game you will want to be able to produce a cheap production booster. Building a Factory on a planet that does not have any production yet will last quite long compared to the basic one. So the time before the planet can build anything else is much longer that way. Of course in the long term you will be wanting to get them upgraded.
Well, my problem is that I am trying to make the game harder. It's too easy to just ally up with everyone you can and then either kill the rest or go for tech-victory. Even with tech and alliance victory off you have won once everyone is allied with you. You can cancel the alliance with the weekest race and go for them. The others won't care. If you could not ally they woud not just ignore what you are doing and flag you as conqueror, drop their relationship towards you and event
I have asked that question in the past but i forgot the answer and due to the lack of a search-function I cannot find it. So if someone knows it, I'd like to know too.
There are no TBS games where the AI is all that smart. The Problem is that just nobody knows the lil game called "Arena Wars". It has the best RTS-AI I've seen so far. It was capable of defeating even the best players without any advantages. It is not scripted and will learn while the match is going on and adapt to your strategy. Your
Be interested to see how it reacts to me going for a tech victory... I tried it out. There obvioulsy is no special diplomatic message implmented yet. It's just the relations suffering and you get that: - "We know what you're doing." in the relations summary, you also get when parking ships next to their planets.
The "play a higher level" point would be valid when I was either playing below "Tough" or I would dominate the AIs. Both is not case. As I said: The AI is totally competative. They have a solid buildup and are tough to beat in wars and will react on Influence-Threads. But as long as your way to the victory does not threaten to harm the AIs and you do not present yourself as a good victim you can pull it off. I'd prefer seeing some things changed about certain vic
