Reoccurence of crashes has been cut by half. 1.06 is much more stable - especially in the tactical battles.
somchaay
This has happened since the beginning, but before 1.06 I was able to use the scroll wheel on my mouse to zoom in and out quickly and the cloth map would come back. This no longer happens; the only solution is to reload the game - which presents its own problems.
Unfortunately, I am still getting CTDs with saves that I made with 1.06. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/Elemental1_06-2010-08-27T21-10-36-534.zip
My thoughts on Elemental so far, as of 1.05. I would wait for 1.06, but the patch logs don't indicate that any of my issues have been resolved yet. So here goes: I can't think of any game in years that I have wanted to suceed as badly as Elemental. I suppose that it has done just that. I've been a Stardock fan since Galactic Civilizations 2. On OS/2. When GC1 came out, I snapped it up, I've probably put more hours into GC2 and its expansions than an

Awesome. That is indeed what it turned out to be; I had a transport on autoexplore, stuck in enemy territory, and once I disbanded it, my game continued. BTW: Transports? Broken. Harbor? Pretty much useless. How so? Transports, on autoexplore, go much slower (in terms of how fast the game is running) than anything else. I'm not sure what the autoexplore algorithm does with transports - and it's generally pretty sucky in otherwise a
I got the Dance With Dragons technology, clicked on the button to improve the roost, hit next turn, and CTD. Perhaps the game knows that the book will never be out?
Yes. On the same saved game, the behavior persists. When I go back a few turns, it plays for a few turns and then the error recurs.
Further update: Apparently this appears to be directly correlated with how far along in the game I am. If I abandon a relatively new game to reload or start again, everything is fine. If I have a pile of cities and units and am far into the game, it crashes every time.
Update: Crashed to desktop when starting a new game after abandoning the current game. Hope this helps. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/Elemental1_05-2010-08-26T01-16-32-801.zip
Nothing appears to be wrong; I play the game until this point and then nothing happens when I hit the next turn button. This basically ends the play experience.

Very very odd. No idea why. See the save game.

Another crash on load. All of these are happening after dropping the main game and then trying to reload it; so far no crashes when loading a game after first starting Elemental. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/Elemental1_05-2010-08-25T21-35-19-964.zip Here is the saved game that it has crashed on both times: http
Out of about ten to fifteen loaded games, this is the first one that I have had today. A tremendous improvement.
It appears that 1.05 solved this issue. Awesome!
Essentially, this means that I have to place my cities and improvements in such a way that it avoids any resources.
Same problem. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/debug.err Also, here is my dxdiag. Using NVidia. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9163928/DxDiag.txt
Here is a rar file with all of the crashes from last night. I couldn't replicate the crash on entering battle, but it is crashing about 90% of the time when I do the following: 1. Currently playing the game, decide to load a save. Type of save doesn't matter, autosave, quicksave, or manual save. 2. Go to the main menu, hit load game, acknowledge the warning, and load the save game. 3. At this point, CTD. I appreciate the resp
In addition, the tactical screen is really slow, and I have to click multiple times to get my people to attack.
Persistant problem from beta days. Using updated version of Elemental.
These issues are carry-overs from the beta. Still much better, and genuinely having fun.
A tech called "A Dance With Dragons"? Thank goodness the release date is set; otherwise I would never believe that the game would be coming out. Write the damn book, George. But in all seriousness, this looks awesome and I appreciate the new screenshots.
