AI no longer wastes money on bounty if the Pirates no longer have any bases. I see that bug was fixed today..I just now got the patch. So I guess it was fixed already. I did not know about the patch today. I did not see obvious news about it.

I tried to watch it, but the game exe crashes and I get some kind of mini-dump error.??? I tried to load an old record file and it does not work. These are in the Document Settings folder/....
Beta 3. one star small galaxy. The AI will continue to waste money on you as a bounty even though I destoyed the pirate's base . Maybe the AI does not know it since it never sent a scout ship to see that it has been destroyed.
Selecting the pips in the bracket surrounding the planet icon is useless. It selects both colony frigates and construction frigates with it and everytime i have to zoom in and deselect them manually which is tedious. Either have the pips exclude col and con frigates when selected or have a shortcut key which automatically discludes col and cons from a selected fleet. I agree. I have to tediously deselect the non-military ships out.<br/
I do hope they make the AI very smart. Not everyone plays multiplayer, I do not. I wonder if I am in the minority. I see you guys have a lively discussion on this gameplay which is good. Maybe some good ideas will come out of it. The other thread got locked.
Is the AI in beta 3 weaker than it was in beta 2 ? It seems like it to me. BTY I do use the Robot Cruiser very well to keep my Cap ships and other valuable ships going. Never built a Krosov yet since my Caps do a good job bombing a planet. I do not care for multiplayer...I really only get about 30 minutes to play and save the game.
I would like the AI improved too. I do not see the AI level up Capital ships on its own via purchase training crew. Cap ships abilities seem to fire off when not needed, or the Flak Burst is borked. Fighters do not target high value threats that well...maybe the same for all ships to some extent. Sound issues come and go. Wild Zoom in/out annoyance. Hard to find my main Cap ships when getting attacked. Message filter to find under attack, and leave out the one
Krosov needs more something I agree. I never built one yet; worthless.
I want the custom galaxy back for Single Player. I do not play multiplayer so why punish us for them? Side note: The ship's texture in game are very dark and hard to see. The graphics in beta 2 earlier version were much better.
2. During a game, it freezes and ctd's after about 90 seconds(reminds me of the gc2 beta), but save games aren't corrupted and you can continue on from the last save. Looks like I'll have to turn autosave back on. Same here. Seems to happen when alot of stuff is going on and I am zooming in to see the action. Freezes but no ctd after 90 seconds -last forever. I have to reboot computer. No minidump was made. Save game reloads fine and I can keep playing. BTY AI capital sh
I cannot reproduce said bug. That is the first thing I research to Captial ships yards. That is it really. Two research levels. Then my fleet of capital ships "Doom Fleet" just whipes out the AI in the present state. Singleplayer of course.
Good post. I think they are not being talked about for the very reason above. I think it should be and thanks for that tactical AI insight. It will help the devs to make the AI smarter. That is better than "We're aware and working on it!" There are many topics in which the AI is being discussed. The dev's are well aware of the AI's shortcomings, and are working
Yes. Another one that is long range, slow firing but packs a real punch. Stops the seige frigate rush abit.
Also, a lot of battles are conducted at a level of zoom where everything is represented by symbols. What's the point of all these gorgeous ship models if when I'm actually playing the game all I see are blue squares? I agree. I wish to see bigger ships instead of those small symbols. Zoom...
True but I do not play multiplayer. I only play singleplayer. I want a good tough AI. One reason I liked the GalCiv series. Good AI for singleplayer.
If it is 100%, the what good is that research topic upgrade that allows for more accurate weapons fire? Plus the command cruiser, and the target assist ability of the Akkan Battlecruiser?
Maybe have the AI build a Capital ship per so many frigates to achieve balance. The AI has the cash, it just does not seem to build capital ships and a balanced fleet.
Hmmm, are you saying civilian ships don't auto repair over time? I could have sworn they did. Yes to your quote. Civilian ships will not auto repair themselves back up to their new health; in fact, they never do.
I watched the Akkan Battlecruiser in the tutorial. Its Info card says it has Laser, Autocannon, Laser. It had a level 2 Ion Bolt ability. When it attacked a Gauss Defense Turret, I watched it shoot a volly of autocannon shells, then another volley of autocannon shells, then the Ion Bolt when it could. Question is, where is the Lasers fire and sound? I hear and see only autocannon turrets. Are the laser facing another direction, since the Akkan Battle cruiser was turned broads
It is like the old Star Wars game 'Rebellion' (Supremacy in UK). You have planets and hyperspace jumppoints. I wish it also had the ground troop invasions too, but maybe in the future. Bombing a planet is pretty easy. The Sins game is played more slowly than these new silly RTS games. I like a strategic / Tactical SMART game that takes time to win instead of a click fest. OK, I did not understand. This is from the readme log. I think it is a blessing (at least for the AI) to still get a small trickle of resources from depleted extractors via refiner ships. Refinery ships will no longer go to extractors that aren't operational.
I notice that as of Beta 2-18 Refinery ships can still harvest resources from depleted astroid extractors. Is this a nice bessing to have some resource income still comong in, or bad behaviour? I thought the change log said the refinery ships will no longer visit these depleted extractors for these 'free' ghost resources??
I must say, the AI instead of wasting so much money on my bounty, it has a hard time building up a decent strike fleet to even begin to make me worry. Infact it seems to send ships one at a time to their death. Instead of a huge fleet, I am getting one Perchilan Carrier cruiser coming into my heavily fortified sytem. Then that crusier never even launches it one squadron of figter/bombers (which maybe is another bug -needs looking into.)
I agree that Capital ships should be researched and harder to gain than Cruisers. Maybe let the support type Capital ships be lower on the research tier, leaving the pure capital ship killers towards the top. As it is now, I only reach the Capital Ship Yard upgrade and start spamming Capital ships of some variety, ignoring completely Cruisers. I own the galaxy with my mega death fleets of Capital ships only. Serious problem IMHO.
