Well, today was a fairly interesting one at my job. (Nurse at a jail..) I was called to the segregation unit because one of the officers claimed that an inmate had "cut his wrist". So, I grabbed some gauze and a wrap and trotted over to the seg unit. Before I could get up to the inmate's cell, the officers were escorting him down the stairs. I noticed that he inmate had blood on his boxer shorts and his hand was stuck down the front...I thought, "Mmm." So, I turned around and walked ahead
Today was a moderately enjoyable Saturday. Even though it was overcast, it was a nice day. After the boys spent a couple of hours trying to beat each other up, they talked me into bringing them to the park. This park is about 35 minutes away and has a pond, fountain, and ducks that the kids (and adults) can feed. We were on our way, with a special .79 cent loaf of bread that had the ducks' names written all over it. Who knew that the ducks were full?? They were completely uninteres
Yes, I'm a native Texan. I live down in Beaumont, Texas which is just about 1.5 hours from Houston. I can vaguely recall a snow that we had when I was around 8 years old, and it was wonderful. I am looking to bring my little boys (5 and 4) to either Red River, NM or Winter Park so that they can see some snow and enjoy the fun. I forgot to mention, one of my favorite Christmas collections is from Rosie O'Donnell...
The only problem that I have with Christmas music is that it makes me want snow. Almost every Christmas song that I can think of sets a picture of a warm, crackling fireplace inside and fluffy, white snow outside. Here in Southeast Texas, we've been neglected of snowfall for the past, oh say 16 years...So, I listen to all of this wonderful Christmas music and I step outside to humidity and NO SNOW!!!!! My poor children look at me as if I have lobsters crawling out of my ears when I even say t
Well, Jill...you may be surprised at what a grown convict may get stuck in his ear....My favorite list toppers are: Toilet paper and pills. You see, they wet toilet paper and roll it into little "plugs" then they stick it in their ears so that the other inmates don't disturb their peaceful slumber...About the pills...I haven't quite figured it out yet. One of the inmates had an Ibuprofen 800mg stuck in his ear..I mean pretty far into his ear...I had to use forceps with tiny little teeth to rem
11-15-03 Well, my first day off was a pretty good one. This is actually my 3rd day off seeing that I had to take Wednesday and Thursday for my oldest son. The actual diagnosis that I was given by his pediatrician was "He's got the crud.." The 'crud' yielded forth a good 3 days of temps in excess of 102 degrees. However, the little man is doing much better and he's getting back to his mischievous ways quickly. I took the boys to see the new Looney Toons movie, and they rea
You stuck WHAT in your ear?? Well, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Misty and I'm a nurse in the grand state of Texas. Wooo Hooo. I'm 29 years old, married and I have 2 sons, who very well may be the most beautiful children on this planet. My professional goal is to be a nurse practitioner, and I'm still undecided as to what specialty I want to grace with my vast knowledge... I like to travel, I like comedies and I like being a nurse. I love my family... I di
