Well if you have a few Dunov's restoring shields they might never die! That was a nasty trick in the betas.

the dunov got a nasty little buff for the beta. its only usefull as a support  for another cap ship like a marza or a kol. imagine having a kol cast finest hour 6 times thats what a dunov is for lol.

Vasari Cap ships eat them for breakfast . All hail the mighty Space Egg!

In seriousness, I find TEC caps to be good ships, with the Marza being my favorite followed closely by the Kol. Just watch out for Space Eggs and Kortul Devistators as they can give you a hard time, espically in combination.

I like the TEC capital ships, but you need to feild them as a balanced unit, not use them individually.

So a fleet with 5 capital ships, has one of each, and their combined abilities make the fleet more formidable.

The Dunov may be less combat effective, but a fleet without a Dunov is much more vulnerable. If I ahve the choice to add 1 more capital ship to a fleet (where the fleet already has a balanced set of capitals), I'll add another Dunov. The extra sheild ability can make all the difference in a large battle.

Dunov is meh, but what the hell is going on with Akkan's Targeting Uplink?  The aura is so useless, first of all, you rarely run into problems with accuracy in this game, unless you are trying to shoot down strike ships.  The aura need work, since it doesn't even stack, or does it?  No one wants to target uplink, b/c friends won't let friends do that.

Vasari capital ships are REALLY strong. A friend and I tried doing a FULL All out war... We both had 1500 supply used a single battle set in a SUN.

I had 5 Capital Ships (1 Akkan, 1 Kol, 1 Sova, 1 Dunov, 1 Marza). 200 Javalis. 25 Kodiaks. 60 Percherons w/ bombers, 40 Cobalts. 30 Hoshikos, 30 Cielo Command Cruisers, 40 Gardas.

He on the other hand had 12 Capital Ships. And a mixture of units more or less the Vasari equivalent of mine.

We let the AI do everything. My TEC fleet was wiped out. He suffered 3 capital ships lost, and several units. It was a rout. In ratio I guess for every 5 lost TEC unit, he suffered 1 lost Vasari Unit.

Gamewise I would have won since I had to wait an additional 30 minutes for him to fully form his fleet. But doing a frontal war with the Vasari is just plain suicide.

LOL, PointlessAgony you suffered a pointless agony b/c as TEC your empire shins in economy not your fleet.  Besides,  you were up against 12 VASARI caps with only the puny 5 tec caps, what did you think would happen?  Your Marza probably died right away, lol.  Tell you what, as the big bad TEC?  Just pump out your super duper Kodiaks with Gardas man, those are your super weapons, with Hoshi they are like the iron great wall of China.  Lastly, but not the least, during the late game, you need more fighters than bombers, anyway. So yea, you were pretty much a goner, even before the battle started.  You had 5 times more Javalis than Cobalts, and no fighters?  That didn't even make any sense.

Or a galactic killing spree near you.

12 Vasari Capital ships needs a 16 TEC capital ship response. Your 5 were just toast.

200 Javalis ? What on earth for ? In that kind of battle, they are just cannon fodder. Should have built the extra capital ships and a great deal more Kodiaks. I'd have taken in 100 kodiaks and 100 Carriers and no javalis at all. 150 carriers if I could manage it. 50 fighters to protect 100 bombers and have the bombers co-ordinate attacks on single cap ships doing the most damage, while the entire fleet targets each capital ship in turn until its dead and move onto the next. Forget the AI doing ships firing on their designed targets, in a big furball like that, you need concentrated firepower to take down the most dangerous ships first as fast as possible.

I think what will be hilarious is when the campaign for this game comes out.  Here's the ending:

"After fighting the Vasari for 15 years and the Advent for 5 years, all of a sudden all players lose and you don't know how.  Game over.  The end"
