Are there any plans for crossfire/sli and/or multi threading support? I have a very nice pc all setup correctly, able to run crysis and other high end games. Sins runs ok but there is quite a bit of slowdown on giant fleet battles. im guessing this is just the same for everyone and people have very different opinions of what low framerates are. I have an 4870x2 card but i guess that only counts as 1 4870 as thers not crossfire support? and i have a new q9550 oc'd to 3.8, but again that probably just counts as one core running at 3.8. it's just a shame because i'd love to see things running very smoothely in giant battles, im the kind of person that is very into watching the battles even more than the tactics.
yeah i plopped down a nice chunk of change and i'd like to see huge maps, large fleets on high res.
alas, right now, not possible
i keep my sli turned off as it pans waaay to quick on the galaxy view. Plus with SLI enabled I can't force vsync regardless of the method i try to force it. The slowdowns on big battles aren't video related. It's all the ai and ship stats and econ that punishes the processor. My video card temps barely go up at all unlike in other 3d intensive games.
As Simmyaz said, the slowdowns in huge battles are the result of the CPU capping out, not the GPU. Even bigger maps would make it much worse.
but we are also talking about cpus here. namely multi-threaded CPU support. with a game that can scale as large as this one can, it does kind of make sense to be ableto use 2 or 4 processors or 8 processors.
