For all you Star Wars fans, I've finished off the latest version of a mod which adds the Alliance and Empire as new races. This is a playable versus the existing Tech/Advent/Vasari races, and balanced against them.

"Star Wars - Requiem" is a mod for Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment and Diplomacy that brings the following:

  • 2 new race; Alliance and Empire
  • 6 new strike craft; TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers, TIE Interceptors, X-Wings, B-wings and A-wings.
  • 11 new frigates; Nebulon B, Nebulon B2, Lancer Frigate, Tartan Patrol Craft, Carrack Gunship, Corellion Gunships, Corellion Corvettes, Siege Frigate Mk II, MC30b series, Acclamator I frigates and Galofree Transports
  • 9 new cruisers, Interdictor, Enforcer, Escort Carrier, Loronar Strike cruiser, MC40a light carriers, Nebulon B escorts, Bulk cruisers, Assault Frigate Mk I and Dreadnaughts
  • 9 new capital ships; Victory II-class Star Destroyer, Victory IIC-class carrier Star Destroyer, Imperator-class Star Destroyer, Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, Mon Calamari 80 and 80a, Mon Calamari Defiance and Libery class and Venator-class battlecruisers.
  • 2 new starbase: the Alliance XQ1 platform and the Empire with an Executor Super Star Destroyer starbase model
  • 3 new weapons; concussion missles, proton torpedos and ion cannons
  • 60 new ship names with unique Alliance and Imperial star destroyer names
  • 23 new music themes consisting of ambient and battle soundtracks
  • over dozens of new ship audio and sound effects
  • Star Wars player portraits
  • Alliance and Empire icon symbols
  • a modified Alliance and Imperial research tree, with unique abilities (Interdiction, Tractor Beam, Shield Focus. Boarding Party, Rebel Defenders etc,)
  • Star Wars EU immersion through appropriate ship use, laser color replacement for all ships and text descriptions updated

    1. This mod was created by JasonFJ, a Star Wars fan and avid gamer, who somehow managed to thrash out this mod despite holding down a full time job and one hell of a fine girlfriend. Appreciate my sacrifice!
    2. Goafan - The only other modder for Requiem, a great co-conspirator who has contributed a lot to the evolution and improvements of Requiem. Also the author of the "Requiem Plus" add-on.

    6. ManShooter - for the Volumetric Explosions mod which was included in Requiem Entrenchment to v2.8... truly a god-like graphics enhancement!
    7. Tohklidan -for components of Celestial Bodies mod that really inspired me to work on the celestial bodies artwork.
    8. Uzii -for the planet textures and inspiration that came from the awesome Sins Plus mod.
    9. Bailknight and Moguta - for the original and continued development of this mod which I've adapted for use with Requiem Diplomacy.
    10. Credits to Grundel for the icon button graphics

    Well since most of us probably now has 1.02 or 1.16 perhaps updating it?

    UPDATE: there is now a patch to upgrade from Requiem v1.0 to v1.1 - which is compatible with Sins v1.16 + Entrechment v1.02. Enjoy!

    My question also.   If I understand the directions, I need all the 8 files and they all go in the Mod folder for entrenchment, then enable all 8 of the files within the game.  Or can we make a separate folder and unzip all  8 in the separate folder and put that folder (containing all 8 unzipped files ) in the Mod folder?  Also where does the patch come in;  is that patch applied to a single file (if just a single file, which file).  Of is the file applied to the Mod folder that has 8 unzipped files.  Or If all 8 files can be unzipped into a separate folder.. run the patch in this separate folder (containing all 8 unzipped files...   I realize this seems like a lot of questions but there are several ways to do this with multiple files.  I have seen this done both ways..  SGraces MOD has to have 3 separate files unzipped into the mod folder and then enabled all 3 within the game.  Another mod for Sins I think it was startrek mod; multiple files had to be unzipped to a single folder and then the single folder put in the MOD folder.

    I'm getting a minidump when attempting to enable the mod...

     

    I'm using your 1.1 patch with Entrench 1.02.

    Mini dump also.  The patch creates 2 new folders... Game Info & String.  If you copy the contents from those 2 new folders into the existing Game Info & String folders  they do a replacement of files ( thus the patch I guess).. Still doesn't work though.  Also the main file Archive 1 is listed as 966kb.  When right clicking it one gets the stardard info with including the option to Extract.   The other fiels 2-8  do not give this option to Extract.  Maybe I don't have the correct extractor ( I have winzip)  but the option should at least be listed, it isn't;  so how do I even extract these files. As far as the directions to install the files in the Entrenchment 1.02 folder.  Putting archive 2-8 in the Entrenchment mod folder and then trying to enable within game doesn't work.  Archive 2-8 do not sow up in the Mods section so nothing to enable.  Except Archive 1... 966kb; which as Superchess states gives a minidump

    I've unzipped the files and the mod seems to enable without crashing or anything, but Imperial is not a selection when choosing a race?  The UI changes are present.

    Are these files unzipped with winzip or something different.  Maybe I got a bad download the is no option to extract these files when right clicking any of them.

    I used winRAR, but winzip should be fine.  This happens also when right-clicking the file "Requiem.zip"?

    OK, your mod looks AMAZING, but I find the install instructions somewhat less than complete.

     

    First: I do not recognize the file extention .z01, and neither does my computer. Are they zip-fragments? Are they to be placed untouched in the MODS folder?

    Second: the primary ZIP file seems to be corrupt. I cannot extract any data from it. Strictly speaking, I was not directed to un-zip the file, but the instalation instructions are inside the zip file, and I can't read them.

     

    Please advise soonest. I am quite eager to try out your mod. Full credit!

    DETAILS
    You can find all the information you need about this mod at http://sins.imperial.cc

    INSTALL
    - Unzip this archive into your Entrenchment Mods directory, overwrite all files
    - If you don't know where that is, go to Options->Mods->Mods Path
    - Enable the mod

    BTW they are fragments of a whole.  you should be able to extract them all by unzipping requiem.zip while making sure that all the .z0x files are in the same directory.

    My only problem is selecting the new race.  It doesn't seem to be available.

    I can extract requiem.zip,  are the .z0x files unzippable, mine are not..  Or do I just put them (unzipped) in the folder with requiem unzipped.

    MyMoto, the correct solution is to have all the files, the ZIP and the Z## files in the entrenchment mods folder, and unzip them by right-clicking the zip file and selecting UNZIP HERE.

     

    OK, that's good and done. Installed the patch as well. When I enable the mod, and select APPLY CHANGES, I get a minidump.

     

    Any reccomendations?

    JgzMan.  Thanks followed your instructions.  Created a folder in the intrenchment 1.02 mods folder called.. Requiem.. copied all all files to this Requiem folder.. Unzipped here.  Applied the patch to Requiem folder.  Ran the game enabled the mod.  No new race (Imperial),  no mini dumb.  Was able to start a game.  Didn't see any difference though.

    Hmm, thanks for the feedback and info. I think what went wrong was I used PowerArchiver to spread the 70Mb ZIP file into smaller 10Mb ones... you're supposed to download them all into your Mods-Entrenchment v1.02 directory and unzip the first archive which will decompress them all.

    But anyway...I'm surprised to hear about any minidumps so let me upload the version I've just tested with v1.16 + v1.02 Entrenchment

    It's a 70.95Mb ZIP file now.... hopefully this will sort out problems.

    I've also added some instructions on how to correctly unZIP the mod into your Mods-Entrenchment v1.02 folder (I think some people are downloading it into the wrong folder, trying to run it without Entrenchment, or forgetting to click "Apply" after Enabling it in their Options->Mod directory.

    I've written this on the site... and just to confirm v1.1 requires Sins v1.16 + Entrenchment v1.02

    Thanks.  I am now able to select the Imperial race, and started a game up fine.  I used the random small map to test it but did get a minidump about 15 minutes into it.

    Thanks guys.

    Under v1.15+v1.01 I never got minidumps.

    Something in v1.16+v1.02 is still creating instability it seems that isn't being picked up in error/logs at startup... I'll investigate more.

    Wierd that its happening later in the game..

    I also got a minidump about 15 minutes in.

    Of note is that I played almost the whole 15 minutes in 8x speed. The problem is a real-time issue, not a game-time issue, if that helps any at all.

    In other news, the ships look great, the firing effects are great. Shame you can't do anything about the icons, though. I suspect that might be a LOT of work.

    One last note: the Corellian Corvets still think they are the same size as the Cobalts they replaced, and they want to sit VERY close together. I don't know if you can change that or even if you want to, but I noticed it.

    Ok found the problem... two files missing in the entity.list.

    I've uploaded a 7.5Kb hotfix (compressed entity.manifest file only!) at http://sins.imperial.cc... you can recover your existing games from autosave once you apply the hotfix.

    I admit I probably rushed out v1.16+v1.02 without testing more than 15 minutes (for those interested, I somehow removed BuffDestabilizeHyperspaceSelf.entity from the manifest.. and this ability is only called by capital ships later into the game.

    Sorry for the annoyance... at least nobody has to download another 70Mb.. the hotfix is only 7.5Kb download

    Hi Jgz.. thanks for the feedback.

    Yes, the icons do require a lot of work and I'm not the worlds greatest graphic artist. I'm hoping to further collaborate with EvilJedi/SOGE to leverage off the immense texture/mesh/particle/brush work that he and the SOGE crew have been doing... and incorporate it into Requiem.

    As for the close stacking of corvettes etc... I can't figure out how to stagger the formations in the entity files. If you set the fleet formation to be spread out when playing the game it improves it somewhat. I've tried tweaking entity Mass constants to no avail. It might be a mesh tweak, in which case I'm dependant on other people to figure it out.

    Thanks for all the feedback. I've noted the Enforceer and Interdictor tweaks.

    I'm still wondering whether the Imperials are slightly overpowered though most of the game they seem ok, they really start to dominate once an Imperial-class star destroyer is unlocked (or it could be me just being too good a player
