i have a serious question...
A galaxy is a massive thing, right. and its not arranged in a straight line...
My question is: both SG1 and SGA Stargates could dial any gate within their galaxy as standard, it was only for intergalactic travel that more power etc was required.
So... whats going on in SGU where SG's have to come into range? Lets say its a power issue... they have 40% of total capacity after the first sun they dipped into, possibly a bit more after the second sun... it should be enough?
i mean, traditionally, SG's are self powered, most of them dont have a spaceship or a city ship or a city electrical grid to power them... so why is this one different?
and on another matter. Rush says the Destiny's SG cannot dial back to Earth, because it only has 40% total power... wait, so you are telling me you need more than 40% of ALL the power at your disposal, to dial Earth...
um... design flaw? what idiot designed a system that requires you to drain your ships power to dial home? given, the range is much greater than what was probably intended, but then why design the ships (both the seeder ship and Destiny) with such longevity in mind? Surviving 10,000 years and STILL seeding gates (which, btw, would have run out of gates a long time ago? does the seeder ship fabricate gates itself? if so, thats cool... and very useful, otherwise...)
i hate glaring holes such as these in a story
