I tried playing a game on vanilla... and it was really really laggy, and definatly ico based.

I play vanilla Sins and have noticed over the past two weeks that ICO lag is very bad.  Just logging into ICO can take up to 10 minutes.  Then setting up a game is a hit and miss affair.

 

Any chance that this will be looked into in the short term or shall I put Sins on the back burner for a little while until this is cleared up?

easy answer: upgrade to diplomacy.

another answer: wait for rebellion.

I thought the entrench/vanilla server was recently restarted... maybe we all need to bug the devs again.

ICO player counts are up into the 80's now.  I think people are coming back on board, and I think the fix in ICO lag is what is convincing them to stay.  Well done Yarlen!

That or it was the $10 trinity sale this weekend...

Though if things are really a lot better, perhaps I should actually play a game of Diplomacy online just to say I've done it.

I did a few days back and was pleasantly surprised! My buddy and I played a 2 vs AI and it was awesome! we saw something like 63 players or so online?

Been a keen Sins player for years now and regularly view this forum. My issue with lag has been minimal so far with the exception of yesterday. Both my friend and I usually play against the AI and we used Entrenchment. After deciding to get Diplomacy our first game was marred with awful lag from the beginning. Weird as I heard Diplomacy reduced the lag

That is weird because the lag on Diplomacy has been much reduced ever since the patch came out.

Yes, happened again when I played on a 2v1 map. Tried a third time and it was fine. Odd. Whatever happened it fixed itself.
