If anyone wants to stop in and chat (with us or each other) or just wants another IRC channel to idle in, the official IRC channel for Sins of a Solar Empire is accessible on irc.stardock.com, port 6667, channel #sins (if you have an IRC client that supports irc links, just click the link at the bottom of this post!).

If you don't have an IRC client already, Impulse has basic built-in IRC functionality. Just go to the Chat section under the Community tab, select #sins from the dropdown, and click Connect.

You can get Impulse here if you don't have it already. Just install it and log in with your account details from the forum here and you're good to go!

Anyone can register a channel on our IRC server, so yes... clans are welcome to form their own channels.

Awesome, I'll have to check it out.

Time zone difference could be a pain in the neck though.

Cool, typical, very few people on there ATM.

Its currently 10:51 GMST, which makes it 5:51 EST, so it won't be 9am over there until 1pm!

Sometimes the IC devs make an appearance too.  So if you're itching to chat with any of the IC devs or any of the folks on the Stardock side of the game, IRC is the place to go. 

The IRC channel was a great place for folks to look for help when Beta 3 started, and with a new patch coming today, I'm sure there will be a lot of questions.  Real-time help is always the best

bleh, i know this is necro, but couldnt find anywhere else to post it.

if you buy the game, you are more likely to find people on IRC (read the top if you dont know how to get there)

and once you are ON IRC, you may have to wait for more than 5 mins to get a response to and questions (especially if you just sit there and dont say anything) while it is untrue that the people at SDC do nothing but drink beer and play hopscotch all day, they cant spend every second of their lives watching IRC.

so please be patient, wait for a response, and be happy there is a company where you CAN talk to people from the company itself

Yup -- modcraft.net has a vent server running, anyone who wants to use it feel free to drop by. We'll also provide (good) forums for any clans that get themselves up off the ground and need the space.
