Starsiege: 2845

This game might be buggy (it's in alpha), but a friend told me it's pretty good.

Anyone play it? (i know the BDUs do)

I tried the alpha release sometime around a month ago, and it just wasn't very playable at the time. Mainly, due to the void that was the number of players and testers at the time.

They released a new website since my last visit and it seems they have something else coming in a few weeks.

I think after all this time it's still unplayable. IDK, I'll just wait for the full release (sometime late this year)

Very underdeveloped as it stands. Some nice models, that's all there is to it currently, it's lacking in most any other aspect like maps, animations, content in general, oh and yeah, gameplay... It was probably a bad decision to drop their mod version and go for a stand alone release as that meant they didn't have a solid gameplay base to work off of and instead had to build that themselves... They haven't been doing so well so far...

i completely agree. I'm not even sure if the final release would be worth trying.

Yeah, it needs a lot of work to be a fun game, and it doesn't help the developers went into "silent running" mode about it's development ever since the alpha tech release.

Back in the day, I was even tasked to make them a new website, but due to unfortunate circumstances at the time (taking care of mother with cancer) my time was short. They never gave me concrete-information on what kind of website they wanted (sometimes took days to get those responses), and their usually vague completely-different ideas of a website changed nearly a dozen or more times in the span of two months.

They eventually removed me from the roster at the end for reasons due to me being unable to produce a functioning high-end, website (for free) within the given time limit (there was no given time limits). Heck, the site back-end was being programmed by someone else, who sounded equally confused as me on what they wanted (also removed), and there was additionally a lack of coordination by the higher-ups.

Note: They did eventually launch a new design based on safely-worded borrowed (stolen-ish) resources from other sites and artists. That design was replaced at some point for some internal reasons.

Note 2: The cooperative design was to feature their ATR, as they said, which by the way was off-schedule nearly one or two years.

Note 3: They expected us to develop and design a website without access to their own web-servers environments.

Back then, they didn't know what they wanted, and it appeared to be the same way in their game-development. So, my expectations are kind of really low for the final product now.
