The Ai being a bit silly..

Alright, i'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I just thought I probably should point out a bit problem i've found.
Basicly, I had a few carries which 5 squads each, I think i had 7-8 bombers and the rest fighters or something, and I went to invade an enemy planet.
Now this planet had hangar defenses, so my squads went off to attack it.
The problem was, that with the AI doing it's own thing, the fighters went off to attack the hangar, while 1 squad of bombers tried to take on 2 fighters!
Can you fix this so fighters, if they detect ANY strike craft, they'll go after it, while the bombers stay like they are (the attack strike craft can be useful sometimes)
Oh, and since this beta is about itnerface (I believe) can we have different icons for fighters and bombers, just to make it a tad easier to find what we want?

Thanks!

Actually, this beta is about gameplay, not the interface, however, they still listen to suggestions regardless on what it's about (especially since an interface dedicated beta is a bit ridiculous, not enough content for a beta). Anyways, are you sure it was the fighters who went to attack the hangers and bombers who went to attack the fighters? I bet since you say you get the two confused sometimes it was the other way around.

Not necessary so, it sometimes happens that fighters seem to forget their job and think they're bombers. Dunno why, but happened to me a few times.

PErhaps the bombers didn't attack the fighters, but the part I am absolutely sure on is that the fighters attacked the hanger.
The problem I found was that the enemy fighters were already in space, and weren't docked or anything, they came straight to my ships, and the fighters just went straight and attacked the defenses.
I guess what I have is more of a suggestion, that if there are any strike craft detected, all fighters should automatically go after them, while bombers remain normal.
And I really would like a difference in icons for the fighters and bombers.

EDIT: no I didn'tget confused, I saw my ships getting attacked so I searched for my fighters, who were attacking the hanger, as I said, there might not have been bombers attacking the strike craft, that part i'm not clear on, the part that I am clear on is that the fighters were attacking the hanger instead of the strike craft.

Are you running the latest hotfix? Strikecraft targeting priority was adjusted in one of the two so things like this shouldn't be happening.

I have seen this as well with the July 12 fix... and I am current as of last night.
I have had to pull my fighters many times to intercept enemy fighters and bombers instead of the hard targets.

I very occasionally see my fighters attacking non-strikecraft if there were no strikecraft to begin with, but the hotfix seemed to actually fix it for the most part for me, and it doesn't seem to be a consistent problem.

What gets me is that once a unit (any unit) begins an auto attack sequence, it won't stop attacking that unit unless I tell it to or the target is destroyed. This is a bit annoying when you've cleared all the hostiles (defensive structures and enemy ships) from a system and everything is attacking a logistics structure when a new enemy fleet phases in. My bombers remain attacking the logistics structures as do my frigates, cap ships, cruisers and fighters. It would be nice if the units would realize that their is a new target in the zone that they are better able to deal with or that is actively hostile.

I agree but sometimes I am doing an attack for certain targets in the system so I want them to continue to hit those targets so I can jump out quicker when enemy reinforcements arvive.
