Battlefleet Gothic

Battlefleet Gothic

I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

To everyone who is working on this, you have done a very good job. Honestly it inspires me to try what you're doing.

Thank you. :) I'm glad our work is already appreciated.

Please continue, this looks awesome! :)

I play BFG TT (which is still alive, btw! ^^) and a Sins mod for it would be super-awesome.

Hello BFG MOD team! I would like to put myself forward to design some maps for this mod based upon the GW BFG IP. Let me know if u already have someone and whether my help is needed or not :). For examples of my previous map works check out

and

WWW Link

My hope is that we can get a little single player and multi player campaign put together through clever map design :)

After little hunt (i.e. specialist games web site) I reckon the following two PDF documents would provide the material for initial single and multi player campaigns?

1.WWW Link

2.WWW Link

Scroll down to the sub-sector maps for examples of maps I can create for sins BFG mod. Although these maps show links between systems (i.e. stars) and that sins Galaxy Forge does not allow the specification of links between particular stars, you can get around this as I demonstrated in the maps I linked above.

Let me know what you think :)

Fandangdo,

the maps look awesome, and we'd absolutely love the help. we do have somebody working on maps as well, but there's no way we'll turn down help, especially considering the awesome amount of backstory to make interesting maps of. If we can get an unlocks system going we could make a campaign suited to sins' nonlinearity by linking them into a 'historical' series that recreates the progress of various events in the lore, such as the gothic war and the tau expansionary campaigns, or computer overhead and scripting capacity allowing, make them into one awesome map. However, the map design will probably require a mapper with considerable skill, and those maps look really good. We'd be happy to have you :D.

The end of the signup thread which is depressingly hard to get to (the main link sends you to a download for some .entities I posted a while back)

about the maps, that sounds awesome, it'd be really great, and allows some creative liberties with the other orbital bodies in the system. Unfortunately, the main rulebook's system maps have unlabeled planets, but I forgot about the ones from armada for voss and cadia. Also, I have a relatively free-form idea of the damocles gulf crusade reconstucted from the old tau codex I think has all the systems of interest in the area. That'd be a very interesting map, with the Imperials getting a large fleet to start but having to conquer tau territory to support it.

I can have 5 maps done by the end of April based upon one of the PDFs I've linked to. Though they will have to be updated when the new map tools are released, because hopefully then one will be able to specify where players start more easily. I have also written some multi-player campaign rules for sins more generally and these can easily be adapted to the campaign rules for BFG. :).

By campaign rules for sins I am referring to several sins maps linked together via a macro map, as well as rules for starting resources, structures and fleets based upon a given teams success in previous maps. This also includes rules for reinforcements after each play round (maps are played out over a number of sessions and each map played to a certain time limit each session). As I've been told that the sins community aint ready for a multi-player campaign yet I am lost for tasks to do so thought adapting it for BFG would be far better. As a GW old timer (BFG included) campaigns have been my staple diet for TT play for a long time :P.

Please note I do not want to step on anyones toes, just I think a substantial map set and multi and single player campaign systems would make this MOD more complete :)

p.s. I already have an account at modcraft (BetaAlpha) and will subscribe to the group.

Finally got the cruiser done, not sure what to do next now, buildings or more ships.

First the cruiser with Fighter Bays, Lances & Nova Cannon

And with Weapon Batteries, Antenna, Ram and Torpedo Tubes (Also added onto Retribution)

All parts are interchangeable. Also, very nice maps Fandango, I can't wait to see what the new ones will look like. ;)

Excellent models yet again, inert.

Fandangdo, I love the idea of campaign rules, that'd be really excellent, and is definitely something that would help our mod tremendously. Thanks a ton for the help.

Wow, just checked out the website with those free magazine downloads. I had never thought any other space..erm...- combat fiction? - could be cooler than Babylon 5 or Star Trek (BSG technically isn't as "epic" as the other two, there are only two types of ships I've seen in the series, big-huge-arse battlestar ship, and the tiny fighter ships. Cool series though, love it). All those wild looking BFG ships flying in space feels just like the people from the middle ages learned to build spaceships but their taste and design never changed - which is awesome!

Now if they just make a movie out of BFG and it'll officially be way cooler than Star Wars, Star Trek or BSG :P Wow I can hear all those fans crying "blaphemy!" and getting ready to stone me :P

Yeah, the Imperial ships look a lot like giant space cathedrals, and all the other ships flow so perfectly from their races' cultures, it's really awesome. Plus, the various races' gameplay really fits who they are so all the races have a distinct feel in every aspect, which is awesome, and I hope we can translate it properly into the game and keep the pervasiveness of the lore in all the game mechanics.

I'm pretty sure I'd be useless programmin wise, but I like to think that i know the stories and politics of the 40k universe pretty well. If you guys need any help cooking up a plot for something, I'd be more htan happy to help.

Hi gents. First, sorry for not posting this Q/request at modcraft :P

Could you guys decide which multi-player campaign scenario you want me to put a set of maps together for and direct me to the GW scenario maps?

Very true. Which is why I like to think that the Tyranids have the purest motives out of any faction.

Here's a scenario: a fleet fighting in a star system gets stranded when a warp entity fries the brains of all of its astropaths. The fleet has to fight tooth and nail through enemy forces so it can link up with an allied fleet (either another imperial fleet with living astropaths, or an allied Eldar fleet?).

I don't think so...

I think Ork motives are even more "pure" than Tyranid...

Okay, we'll try to figure it out soon. Do you have the pages from armada with the armageddon campaign on them? If so, those'd probably be your best bet for starting something because they have the most information, and I'll try to supply you with 40k style planet types to play with (no skins or anything yet, just rebranded ones from sins with stats that better reflect the capabilities of the planets).

Inquisition sounds a bit more likely than eldar, warp entity considered but that would be an interesting scenario.
OK thanks. I had assumed that the first campaign would depend on which races/factions you intend to release first?
Yeah, it does, but the thing is that's the easiest to do because all the maps have the full information, and even though we're only releasing the imperial navy, chaos and tau in the first pack, the maps will get play for later releases and also can initially represent the time of the first war for armageddon which was chaos against the imperials, so it'll make sense and be ready for the orks' release.
