Battlefleet Gothic

Battlefleet Gothic

I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

The eldar have actually pulled more wieght for the Imperium than I think most people appreciate. I mean, Armageddon? Eldar. The destruction of hive fleet Kraken? All eldar, especially after the inquisitor who suggested that Behemoth wasn't the only Hive Fleet was exiled. Eye of Terror? Cadians, with a hint of Ulthwe thrown in for flavor.

OK thanks. I had assumed that the first campaign would depend on which races/factions you intend to release first?

Definately, if you have specific factions ready then only ideas involving said factions should be put on the table at the moment.

Armageddon wasn't exactly eldar helping the imperium... :NOTSURE: but on the others, sure, although the imperials would probably open up on the eldar if they saw them. Maybe make the eldar trying to divert attention from the imperials by attacking the flanks of chaos or whoever else is attacking them.

The first release will be imperials chaos and tau, so ideas in that regard would be good. There was something about Tau running into slaaneshi forces that could be fleshed out if you can get any more details, but it was quite vague on the location and surrounding planets. IIRC, it's in the uk games workshop site.

Just a little WIP of the Planet Killer to keep the thread afloat, how about a 13th Black Crusade map so it will fit in? ;) There's also a thread with pictures of the Cadia system on the modcraft site.

*renders praise* Thanks for keeping the thread going in such grand style. :D

That looks awesome, I'll try to add some support, but my graphics class is insane. We're trying to create a bare-bones unaccelerated DX with fancy shading techniques, which while undeniably awesome, is also very stressful. But the nice boys at IC seem to be taking their time and consequently bailing my sorry behind out of slackerdom. :NOTSURE:

what program/s do you use to design the ships i Nert

Well if you take a look at this map of the 40K galaxy, you can pick out the areas that you want me to initially focus on and that include likely areas of conflict between the races you will initially be releasing.

Hmm, If you like that version of the 40k galaxy map, you'll love this one, it has all the awesome info on all the planets:

I'd say work on the damocles gulf area first because we have somebody messing with the cadian gate already. That'd be awesome. I have an idea for a campaign style map where the Imperials start out with a large presence in the Brimlock system, and have to invade the large established Tau empire in order to gain enough room to maintain their momentum, while the Tau need to get a credible delaying action so they can sap the imperial momentum before they're crippled. Sure, we'll need to do some work on it once we get the ships up and running, but having a fun scenario like that for a long game would be a very good thing. If you have any ideas for scenarios from the fluff that you'd like to recreate, go ahead, I'll help as much as I can. If you want to limit the stuff to the races we're releasing first, it's tau, chaos, and IN. Chaos v. IN suggestions are prevalent and include various bits of the gothic war, the 13th black crusade, and the first war for armageddon, as well as a bunch of other battles. IN v. Tau is rarer, but the Third Sphere Expansion, and Damocles Gulf Crudsade are prominent, while for Tau v. chaos, some scenario with chaos raiders and Tau fleets battling each other would likely be a lot of fun. Look at the tau region in the lower right hand for Kelsha'Var, not much info, but it provides plausibility.

OK, I'll break down the Damocles gulf into a number of maps for a campaign, and include some of the surrounding imperial worlds.

Excellent, glad to hear it. :D

Great map, Fandangdo.

Man, I really want a scenario in the region surrounding the Necron artifact that threw Leviathan off course...that would not be happy sailing :)

awesome designs i nert and every one else the 1 place i checked for a 3d max trail version you needed a company also love the planet killer this is what happens to the planet in question (note thats just the start).

Hi. I am going to split that map as shown in the following image. I will include the following imperial systems; Brimlock, Vengeance, Ichar IV, Sotha and Moracre.

It will be very straight forwards to put the maps together, though I will have to wait till you guys are further along with the mod before I designate which faction controls what at the start of the map, and also the campaign rules to determine what players can carry across from dominating one map into subsequent maps as the campaign progresses.

That looks awesome. I'm not sure how to make the unified campaign work, but if they work, it'll be great.
Most of the mechanics for the campaign are basically tables and die roles that determine what players get to start with on the subsequent maps i.e. control of territory and key systems would confer better tables to role on. As you can specify planets owned , structures and fleet compositions through galaxy forge, I would just update and re-release maps based upon the previous campaign stages. But as I said, I can't really do that until I know the game mechanics of the mod.

Cheers!

Will there be Virus Bombs? I so wanna act like Horus on Isstvan III very often...
Fear100,

Is that really a bomb so powerful it's sending the planet's ocean into low orbit?

Wow...

Hmm, maybe every ship should have a planet killer-style supership? Space marines get a battle barge, Tau gets an explorer, Chaos gets the planet killer, Imperials get an Apocalypse, 'nids get a Norn Queen ship, Necrons get a Cairn, etc? One 'gigacapital ship' that is at the end of the research tree where the novalith/kostura/deliverance engine are now (in spirit more than in practice, i.e. way at the end)?
Keilworth all races will have some supertype thing but not all of em will be a ship for instance the IN are getting the ramalies star fort duno what marines get but they dont have any cap ships other than the battle barge so it would be kinda sad to cut them out of their only ship... anyway you get the picture we will have superweapon type things but no all of em will be ships

:CONGRAT: Looks awesome guys! One of my cruisers is almost fully painted (a day or two more maybe) and others are half painted. Still haven't started my Retribution though. Kiernyc's little escorts are painted now too. I think I can access a better camera and take better pictures (sorry about those last ones, those stunk).
Fandangdo, that sounds like a really good way to make a bridged multiplayer campaign, that'd be really neat if guys could have connected games in that way.

This may be outside the sphere of what is possible, but the battles could be conducted on a map with differnat regions and there is a risk-like system of moving from place to place to conduct battles.

Though that's more GalCiv scope/scale than Sins.
