I like the game so far, looks great when I tried it out on my friend's computer who just preordered the game.

Anyways, THQ games like Supreme Commander, which has a similar large zoom in/out like this game, have the feature where when you zoom in, the focus for the zoom in is wherever your mouse is pointing. This makes the interface more intuitive, and makes jumping around as easy as zooming out, pointing where you want to look with your cursor, then rolling the wheel back in.
