Yea I saw the video you were referring to and that did look good but that was also a older video and you nearly quoted it by saying a industrial technological city from "Star Wars" or a more rounded city that represents something from say Dr. Seus.

I also recall the developers saying that some of the creatures either looked weird or didnt "appear" to function correctly with some models. I feel that its all about the textures having dealt a little in 3DS Max 9 and I feel that they could have really gone in the direction of realistic and leave the models as they are.

Either way I am glad that its finally here and I will spend a lot of time playing it.
Just by purchasing the game you are basically financing the research that went into the game. The idea of making user created content integrated into the game itself with procedural programming and it will only get more advanced in time.

So the future for games like this, we will be creating something more realistic in the future im sure.

I think the main appeal of Spore is the entirely user-created content, the infinite replayability, the almost infinite customization, and the procedural programming.

The procedural programming is the best part.
For those who don't know, procedural programming in a nutshell is that it defines the relationship between two or more types of objects, instead of cause/trigger or event/trigger. Great stuff.

It's such a different genre than Sins, but going to be amazing. It will definitely revolutionize the strategy/roleplaying genre.

roleplaying, definately.

Strategy in the sense that, when in the creature designer, you need to take in the concept of natural selection, and make it so that your creature "evolves" into a smart form that won't die out because of inefficiency or any other fatal flaws. You also have to compete with other races, and strategise how to take over the world.

Then you need to move on to space colonization, and do that as well.

There are elements of strategy, but more in the sense of the Civilization series, SimCity series, and The Sims series (although better than that).

well aside from the wrong usage of "strategy" I doubt it will be as hard as you claim.

I think SPORE is going to be a crappy game. I mean who wants to evolve from being a ameoba to God? All that boring creature cutomization, civilization building, space exploration I mean who cares?....

I'm just j/king I pray to my god (Will Wright) every night that SPORE will be released miraculously ahead of time and that I will get a free copy (or I would be willing to buy it at 50 bucks...or 100 bucks...or 1000 dollars plus my eternal soul   ).
