*adds code to the hotfix so that the game will only run slow when the user uses lordkosc's serial*

There's really no point in protesting. We are very much aware of the game speed issues and are working to address them.

You make the space ponies cry, lordkosc.

For those not happy with the slow speed After all this isn't warcraft or another clone of a tank rush build 60 bases in 10 minutes game so please lets not turn it into one.

It is a STRATEGY Game

BUT! For those that want that type of game maybe...The Game speed should be SELECTABLE.
Although I actually enjoy taking time or a 10 hour game against my friends as it gives you more time to plan and strategize!!

What I would LOVE to see is a Stand Alone server that is capable of running the same game 24/7 maybe string a game out over a couple of months between friends


Just my opinion.

Hi all,

Agreed 100% with JimLasCola.

I forked out on this precisely because it wasn't C&C in space; I want to exercise my brain, not reflexes and fingers. However, no reason everybody couldn't be satisfied by the introduction of selectable speed settings. When you attempt to merge genres you obviously get different expectations from fans of each as to what constitutes the ideal game.

Exercising your brain has little to do with the game pace. If you're thinking slow enough that a 2x increase in game pace would lead to a meltdown, you've got an IQ somewhere just shy of zero.

I don't want this to turn into a micro whore game. But fast paced has very little to do with whether you're winning by thinking or not unless it's just so fast you can't manage a large scale game. With competent AI, static defenses, and the very handy alert system and navigational capabilities, I doubt that would be a problem at anything near current speeds even for my poor arthritic fingers. To the contrary, I find myself able to gain substantial advantages by micromanaging my targeted units to move past the attacking fleet, causing them to turn about to face instead of re-targeting something they can shoot.

I like the idea of a game-speed selector that is variable in-game. Rebellion did this well, letting you slow down and strategize for a long time ... or rush through the days it took for your Death Star to arrive. More lessons should be learned from this. Why just vary the game speed once? Let players adjust it, and in MP just average that speed out to get the "actual" game speed.

I also agree that game speed should be selectable. Although I understand why people are unhappey about the speed, I for one enjoy the slow pace and enjoy long drawn out lan games with my freinds.

If you make it selectable then you can please everyone, those that want fast paced games and those that are into slow paced games. dont just force everyone into one type of playing style when you can eaisly accommodate both.

Also I take it the option of being able to make custom maps like in beta 2 will return in full release?

I don't really like the scenerios. What you should be testing is ways to give the player more options and control over creating his game, the more options the better.

I just purchased the game this weekend and started playing the single player before jumping into multiplayer and the only thing I that is really bugging me that wasn't mentioned here really was the AI.

They honest to god don't do anything! I have had 3 hour games on FFA with 5 AI players and all of them will just sit there on their homeplanet and build scouts. They aren't researching they aren't exploring or anything. If its a team game they seam to go around in their own star system and take over those planets but they still aren't researching...

And how are they purchasing stocks I don't understand that but it tells me I am getting money from it during the end game stats screen.

There is a bug in the latest release that has caused this, it has been identified and fixed, no news on when it will be released.

Confused me for a while as well, but if you go the F1 diplomacy screen, where you sell your crystal and metal at the bottom is listed as the stock market. This value does fluctuate sometimes

No offense, but I think Yarlen meant in "protest" in the way that you've posted in three to four separate threads with the same exact "issue", and people are already aware of your passionate opinion.
Getting an opinion across though isn't a matter of starting a crusade or petition, or poll for that matter.

You sir are welcome to your opinion, but there are some gamers on here that just don't have time for a 10 hr game, at least not in 1 sitting, heck at 2 hr game in one sitting is pushing the limit. (and my bladder size)

Also on a side note, what got me the most excited about this game was Beta 1 , as it was like CnC in space! As the beta's have progress so has the game away from that aspect, mostly for the better thank goodness...

Everyone has starting mentioning selectable game speed, that is indeed an option, but how about another idea... Increase resource/credit generation... The game plays at the same speed, but you have more resources on hand to create more fleets, allowing for more battles, and getting more research done in a shorter time...

I enjoy the strategy aspect as much as the next RTS/4x'er , but once I have my strategy planned I still seem to have large amounts of time where nothing happens as I wait for money/resources to accrue.

We're looking into selectable game speed when creating a new match which will impact several factors to either speed up or slow down things as a whole.

While I agree that there is a lot of time spent waiting for credits to accrue, on the other hand, this increases the influence of the choices we make about spending it has on the result of the game. By making it rarer, each little credit counts for more, and I for one enjoy it that way. I have to choose between that extra cobalt or that extra hangar, and that decision could be the one that sneds me to oblivion... it adds a whole new level of tension for me.

However, it means that I have 3 early research techs i need (hangars and planet colonizations), and a couple of buffs, rendering most of the tech tree useless unless a siege comes up somehow.

I played a multiplayer game, and I noticed how distinctly different my behaviour was... I was juicing all the cobalts I could get from the credits i had, because stationary defences are of less use when you can't predict where you gonna get hit or how they're going to sneak past. You're spending decisions matter more because you have less time to build up your fleet before you get hit. And the pirate bidding war is awesome Just wish there was a way to buy back bounty on yourself, so you got them if you wanted them.

Eh, don't forget repair centers -- they REALLY boost your defenses lifespan.

Yes but "PLANNED" strategies can go awry when your enemy or opponent does something you would never expect!

The speed or the resource speedup accomplish only one thing makeing it a supercapWTFBBQ capitol fleet rush game every time, This is just my humble opinion.
THAT is WHY I was especially thinking of YOU when I suggested the Selectable game speed slider bar!
Us old timers cannot compete with you young fast as heck blob clickers lol hence slow for me, and Super fast for you!

C&C in space conversionis what will RUIN this game IMHO!

And I've narrowed down the issue to, not so much game speed but rather resource allocation speed. But either way, faster resource allocation or a faster game via a slider before the game stars would be SUPER!

What you're probably noticing is that the gravity well's sphere in full form.   Now that all the planets in a system aren't on the same plane, you can really pick up on the spherical nature of the gravity well.
