Adjusting black market prices

The prices at the black market are extremely high (often topping 600creds/100 unit resource). In addition, the sell prices do not fluctuate, usually staying at 250 then dropping to 200 in the middle of the game.

Is this intentional? I'd like to see a system where if you sell a bunch of metal and flood the market the price actually goes down, as right now I'll put a ton of creds into metal mining, (which also isn't a giant black hole if you play a long enough game), then sell it as it's used very little in ship production.

Prices do fluctuate, up and down. There is a price "floor" of 200 credits when selling, and I've seen prices go up past 2K a pop for crystal. Problem is that the AI -- and a lot of players -- ends up buying metal / crystal by the truck load later in the game, as asteroids run out and refineries kick in. (A lot of players don't build refineries, and the AI is really bad about it).

Paying 2500+ for 100 crystal hurts, lemme tell you But it's also nice that the market is universal, because then it's the same for everyone, teehee.. early on it's easy enough to buy crystal/metal for 500. In my experience though, metal is plentiful and it's usually the crystal that people buy lots of.

The trade system and black market are getting overhauls. They'll be more to them in the future and you'll actually be able to play an effective economic game.

oh thank god.

what I would like is actually being able to set up your OWN market (with selling/buying prices based on your own choices) so that a flat out economist like me can dominate.

I can see it now! Buy 500 crystal for now money down!

Insert small print: a daily payment of 300000 credits compounded by 75% daily. Failure to pay will result in me taking control of all of your forces and planets permanently. Some assembly required, only for people ages 7 and up. Some assembly required. by buying this product you probably won't actually get anything, but I'll be able to steal all your stuff.

lol, will someone actully be able to win from economical reasons only?

like buy out someone's empire

right now I can see stages empires in a long game will go throuhg

military, scrambel to get as many planets as can

economic, short pauss with lots of economic reasurch, then empires will try to buy each other off.

cultural, as economic begans to take a monintary toll, some empires will resort too building large numbers of towers, and empires who fall behind, will find lardge numbers of thier planets swithing alliences.

now that would be a REALY long game.
