Sins Beta 4 Impressions

So, I figure I'll keep this short and to the point:

You guys rock!

And by 'you guys' I mean everyone at Stardock/Ironclad It's pretty easy to see how much work you all have been putting into this and all I can say is thanks for all your efforts!

This is honestly the best beta community I've ever been in, both in interaction with (and the dedication of) the developers and the beta testers themselves, for always wanting to make the game better instead of just sitting and complaining how much something sucks as is common in just about any other beta.

But yeah, I for one am proud to be here, so:

/tips hat and bows to everyone at Ironclad/Stardock
/tips hat and bows to the beta testers

Figured the forum could use a post like this, since we're not going to have any more beta phases to make another one!

Just posted this in gameplay feedback, but I suppose this thread matches as well:

Does anyone else feel kinda let down by the Vasari?

I mean, I was expecting all three races to be pretty unique in their designs and ships. But what we seem to have is just:

- different skins
- different names
- different weapons graphics

But then they seem to mirror their TEC counterparts in function. The Vasari have a carrier class capital that mirrors the Sova. An Akkan type capital that can colonize, etc.


I'm not seeing a lot of differences here, and I don't get the feeling that I'm playing anything but the TEC with different colors and designs slapped on.

I guess this game will be awesome once we start seeing the Star Wars, Star Trek & Babylon 5 mods for it.

Seriously, though, I made this thread to basically say thanks to everyone working on the game for their obvious hard work, and to all the beta testers actively contributing to make the game better. I mean, look at Blair's posts in the Technical Feedback thread. Late at night and squishing beta bugs to give us a hotfix. At the very least that deserves a thanks in my book

If anyone feels like sharing the sentiment, feel free to post! Otherwise, there's plenty of room in other threads/forums for critique/suggestions/wish lists/etc, but no need for any of that here

Signed on the "You guys Rock!" statement.

My 1st impression of beta 4 went along the lines of "Holy S**T!!"

To all the naysayers out there, Sure there are some flaws in this game. What game doesnt have flaws? Thats what the betas are for to try to iron out the flaws as much as possible before the true release. Can you tell me of ANY other BETA's that were this good? Where the dev's actually listened to the input of the testers, and implemented some of their suggestions? Again, Ironclad, and Stardock.. YOU GUYS ROCK!

TBH i was confused by the Vasari lineup at 1st. Each ship is not identical to its TEC counterpart, but the role it fills is the same. The carrier was obvious. It took some time looking at info cards to figure the rest out. The ability's Vasari cap ships use are way different. Plus Vasari has Jump Gates

OK its official i LOVE the KOL.

Thank you Annatar11!  It feels great to have our hard work recognized. Too often the positive comments are limited to IRC chat immediately after following beta, and only the negative comments make it to the forum the follow day.  Not overly balanced/useful for someone who drops into the forum for the first time!  As i read your post i keep thinking there was going to be a big 'but' at the end, but there wasn't! Thank you
