Cusor drift still present in Beta4

I mentioned this a while ago...just bringing it up again as I noticed its still present in the current Beta.

When using the right mouse button (after selecting an object) to move the camera angle around the cusor drifts off or away from the central position which can cause problems.

I use this method of select, zoom & pan alot as its what I'm used to from HW2 days.

Do you mean there's an actual drift bug involved, or just that you don't like the cursor to move when rotating the camera?

I don't like how the cursor moves away from a selected/centrally focused object when rotating the camera. I expect it to stay on the object in the center because it can sometimes reach the edge of the screen when you stop which then asks the UI to scroll the view in that direction when you 9/10 wouldn't have chosen to do that as your next command.

I don't see why the cursor should move at all whilst rotating the camera, thats why I described it as a bug.

I dont use zoom the cursor btw, I prefer zoom to object.

Don't you mean zoom to center? You can zoom to cursor, but the only other option is to zoom straight in / out of the screen...

Alas, I think what your describing is "intended behavior" -- the mouse isn't "locked" into position when your right clicking to change the view, correct?

Correct.

Why is it intended behaviour Ron, whats the value in allowing the cursor to move when changing view?

If I'm missing something then fair enough atm I find it reasonably irritating.

Look up a few posts

The value is having it move, or not move, lies purely with user expectation. Some users expect it to be "locked" in place, others find it more natural for it to move around freely. This would be one location where "make it an option" would be a valid response, if it weren't so very very trivial. (I'm sure all concerned would rather have the devs spend their time on more serious issues pre-release, and add the option in a patch... unless its a genuine five-minute-fix, of course)

I'd like to second that. Quite irritating to me as well.

hmm... Ive become so accustomed to the cursor just dissapearing when I rotate that I didn't even notice it was still there. Would be better if it just went away while I rotate, but it never really bothered me that much anyways.
