Bug in Zooming

I have played a few games with both races and on different maps. Every time I try to hold shift in order to issue multiple orders and try to zoom at the same time, the zooming is slowed down tremendously. I don't know if this is part of the programming or just a bug, has anyone else had this problem? My system specs are as follows-

Motherboard- MSI MS-7325
Processor- AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ @ 2.81 GHz
GPU- NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
RAM- 4 GB DDR2-SDRAM
OS- Windows Vista 32 bit

part of the programming i believe, it zooms out on a much smaller interval, its nice for when you are trying to get small stuff and its really nice since its just a grav well and you can pan for the stuff you want

you can also let go of shift, zoom back in/out, and then hold shift again and select

I was think of more in terms of queuing up systems for ships to explore, but what you said makes sense as well since that type of multiple orders is much more common.

z,x,c are also default keyboard zoom keys
