Seriously though, I would buy the game, update to beta 4 and you will see first hand how much better it is than beta 3. Then you will love it when I tell you just how much better retail is than beta 4. Turrets are very useful (you have lay them out well) and fleet sizes can be huge (and you can mod it very easily to create even larger fleets.)

I guess that may be a possibility, however, in that case the friend pirated the beta.

I thought of that, I guess there is a chance he didn't, but there is still a proabablity he did pirate it, sorry bout it.

Well its good to know that someone thinks a beta can be stolen the same as a full copy of the game, and ever more so that the devs can be jerks about people who are intrested in buying there game and giving them money.

Oh well i will look for another game to keep me busy till my new MMOs come out this summer take care and ebst of luck.

 

Whiteskull, I'm a developer on Sins and you can read my post above and you can see that I wasn't being a jerk. I don't like that people have stolen Sins beta's but I still hope to encourage them to buy the game and check out all the cool new stuff we've added - which is basically what I wrote to you. The quote from Yarlen is accurate and I agree with him but I believe he was particularly mad at people who stole the game and were complaining about various issues and wasting our time - in which case can you blame him? Either way I hope you decide to buy Sins and have a lot of fun playing it - without your support small independant companies like Stardock and Ironclad won't be able to continue to deliver new content for our games and we definately won't be able to make new ones

This problem has been solved in the full/gamma one or two month ago

This is a circular argument that has no merit. By this logic, you're "justified" to steal every product because it may not be as advertised. The fact is, every company pitches their product in the best light possible, but it's up to the consumer to decide to spend money on it or not. You can say some company made you waste money on a crappy game, but they didn't force you to buy it - it was you who decided to spend the money on it without doing any research. Demos and reviewing sites exist for a reason, and if you don't use them and complain that you were cheated out of your money and so now resort to stealing, you're just creating a convenient justification that doesn't hold water.

That said, Stardock and Ironclad are definitely not in the business of mis-representing games or services, so I'm glad you hopped on board and got the game

Demos: Many games dont offer one. If theres one ofc I down it.
Review sites: Since when are they right about a game? Which ones are legit which ones write a payed review?

You are most certainly right on that nobody is forcing me. On the other hand if i am promised superior AI/graphs by the company and they absolutly dont deliver that. Then yes my friend they lied and cheated me out of my money. Should I have done more research? Dont tell me I have to do 4 hours of research simply because you get lied into buying a game. Its weird that you say I justify stealing every product. If you would advertise a TV with functions it does not have and I would buy it. I would have no problem getting my money back, if needed by law. With software lol forget it, as soon as you open the box it cant be returned where I live.

Is it actually stealing when you down a game install it and stop playing after 30 minutes and remove it in utter disgust? Or is it sweet revenge and a thank god I didnt fall for it? For me its the last and I am afraid no one would be able to change that.

Aye glad to be on board but I am already a die hard fan of the GC series and I bought all the expansions Like I already said If you like the game support the devs.

reviews are nothing but a commercial... so ppl treat it as such..

when was the last time u saw a commercial on TV of a product and u actualy bought it beacuse of that commercial...i bet it never happend.

either other ppl who have the product advise you to buy it or you go to the store and try it 4 yourself...

games i love i buy .. that doesnt mean that every game i ever played i bought...and the crap u dl u delete after 5 sec of play.

Soase i will buy no doubt about it , i will support the devs heck i would pay 100$ 4 it cause hi i love the game... but i would never buy a game if i havent tested it b4.


u can call it piracy , i call it comman sense.

i think piracy exists because of the nature of the gaming marketing where buying a product is very risky and alot of ppl got hurt by it.

i dont think soase will have much piracy its an awesome game and any one with half a brain will buy it to support companies which actualy make a good game .

ohh and i dont buy that theory of which was first the egg or the chicken...because it was the egg which was first (well if u belive in evolution but thats another debate).



beta's and demos should be free ...if i dl the demo of Soase and decide to buy it then its ok but if i Dl the beta and decide to buy it then its stealing? Woot!

stealing is if you go to IGN and you are asked to pay 4 a subscription in order to play a beta... like they did in ohh so many games , the nerve to charge a client to play a beta!!!

in fact p2p is an awesome way to have a bigger client base .. if i had a company i would realse the demo or any beta i made 4 free on a torrent site etc... its free feedback!!! and if ppl love the game they will buy it...if not they will dl it play it 4 a few hours and throw it away.

well writing all this just moved the relase date of soase closer muhahah ,if only i could pre-order via paypal
