sound distortion

hello

I am experiencing some very annoying distorted sound... I get it almost everytime right after the opening cinematics. Rarely the sound is good for a minutte or two and then it gets distorted. I have so far not been able to start the game up and play with good sound...

I've been searching everyone on the forums for advice, and been trying everything i could find, but so far i've had no luck, and i am looking for any help i can have..

i'm on a laptop with a Realtek High Definition audio card(thats the closest thing to a model i can figure out..)

The fixes for this problem are usually:

1) Make sure bloom is disabled
2) Make sure you don't have something unnecessary running in the background (I've had trouble with youtube and other flash-based video players)
3) Update your sound drivers. Particularly with Vista, there have been some problems with crummy drivers.

So give those a go and let us know how it works out.

Cheers

Try turning off bloom and turning down multisampling. That's been the only suggested fix so far that I've seen.

Edit: I am beaten :(

Thanks, but i have already tried those mentioned above. I have also checked if hardware acceleration was off(it was) and i even tried to disable background texture loading in the user.settings file, because i read somewhere that might help. But nothing has helped so far.

Hmm... that's not good. Have you tried to see if turning off music or effects helps at all?

What sound card are you using and have you run dxdiag to see if there are any directsound problems?

I systematically went through anything I thought could have an impact on my sound, and finally i uinstalled my xvid codec, and that seemed to work.

It appears it was just an amazing coincidence, it was the first time i could start a game with good sound, but when i started the game up again the sound distortion came back. The game is completely unplayable.. What a waste of money this has been...

Hello all, my first post for Sins :)
--I Had this problem also. I find that when you change your graphics settings for some reason it made my microphone recording volume go up and cause the distortion. Don't know if this is why you guys are haveing a problem, but I just put the microphone playback back to zero and it removed the distortion!!!
