Very Dissapointed?

Very Dissapointed?

Well after playing about 10 games, I've come to realize that there are some pretty big flaws in the game.

1. Its too slow, and takes way too long to finish a game, and I've only played on small random. I played one multiplayer game, and my opponent disc. after 40 mins. Probably due to pirates.

2. In all 10 games, I've fought my "actual" opponent twice. The other times its all been me vs. pirates. When I see them come with like 15+ ships, I usually just quit, becasue its really stupid. From reading the forums, its clear 90% of the player feel the same way.

3. There is nothing to do in this game but wait for resources, which clearly means they don't generate fast enough so that we can buy stuff. This contributes to the slow factor... This game needs to be at least 5x faster so that games can be played within a reasonable period of time. Games that take hours to finish, skirmish wise, fail.

4. I think once IGN rates this game, its over... We will all move on... Sigh...

IGN rated sins 8.9 in Feb for a start. http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/852/852735p1.html And anyway, why would their rating mean people would then move on? Surely people already playing know if they like the game or not and aren't about to be swayed by a review score.

If you're having trouble with pirates after so long then you're not doing so well! After the first game, I realised you could just outbid the enemy to make the pirates go after the higher bounty on them.

Even if they attack you every time, you should be able to deal with them fairly easily and autonomously. Once you locate their base you know where they will attack every time.

You are aware that you can ADJUST the game speed, build time, resource income, turn off pirates and all that, right? This game is an RTS-Real Time STRATEGY being the key word. Not Starcraft, WOW or a DOW lets rush em' game. If you try to rush you will be crushed in this game. Think of it like chess, consider your moves wisely and put some thought into them. If I attack this planet will it leave one of mine open to attack? Should I reinforce or not? Should I fall back or push on? Should I build more frigates or cruisers? Tips for dealing with pirates: They usually go for your forward bases which usually are recent properties and are weak. A good portion of your fleets should be committed to frontier planets, but this is not always the case. More often than not they'll attack the same planet over and over, so just reinforce it with hangars and orbital guns with some frigates and cruisers for support. This will take care of them almost certainly, just remember to check on them and reinforce when necessary, you shouldn't have a problem.

Sins is both a slow game and it encourages rushing. People assume slow game = deep strategy game. Wrong. Playing rush RTS in slow motion, and it is still a rushing game.

Sins is slow because you spend most of the opening game staring at the screen to wait for resources to trickle in and ships to move, before you can do anything interesting.

Sins is a rushing game because early military build up + attack works. Most research options are bad, and players paying resources on bad research lose to the rushers quickly.

To respond to the bit about being too slow.

I wish it were slower, for me the time seems to be modeled on what online players want. Now I know this is not correct.

Some say to slow, some say to fast.

So they must have it just about right.

Well, I know it's "just" me, but the slower, the better. After 30 your reflexes start going and after 35 you just can't quite keep your mind whirling around on too much at once. (I jest, of course.)

When I play games of this nature, they must be A.) random. I will never play a static map- I don't want to know what's going to be there in the game I'm about to play!

B.) Full of many opponents. While I'll likely NEVER win in my life, I always play against maximum number of hard opponents, even when it means me getting toasted every game.

That's because C.) I don't care about winning or losing- just having fun. Which, for me, means that if I'm having fun I want the game to be D.) Slow and long. Why would I want the fun to end in 40 minutes? I even set my research level to "slow" so there's a longer time with the "puny" ships and a greater sense of "take THIS!" when you get a new prototype out in the field.

Obviously most people don't have the time to coordinate such a lengthy game, so that's one of many reasons I stick to single-player only. (Language is another reason- not swearing, just the abuse of proper grammar- it makes me weep to the core.)

One of the primary reasons younger players burn themselves out of games is because of the "ADD" factor: "Play fast, fast fast get through it fast oh please what's at the end let's go again now please more again again... bah, I've seen this before, I'm bored."

I rarely see all a game has to offer since I play 'em long and slow. That means I constantly have something new to provide novel entertainment.

Now, it's certainly up to others how they choose to play a game, but I personally don't follow the "too slow" concept... hasn't any of these people ever sat down and played a table-top or role-playing game over the course of two or three weeks, a bit at a time?

If not, it's a loss for them.

Slow, large, random and magnificent.

Brilliant attitude :) I need say nothing thats how I see things as well especially about powering through a game then "Ow what now? Nothing" Im here for enjoyment as well and what worrys me is everythings going down the road of less enjoyment orientated and more speed gaming based on exact maths formulae to get the best way period as opposed to just having fun and through not knowing exact formulae a variety of different strategies cant be proved as non viable and you have a much more diverse game.
