This game takes too long?

I play a lot of rts and this game just takes too long. Games should last at 2 hours at most not just starting the big battles at 2 hours. The should have trhe resoucres double thier exctractiopn rate. It would spped it up. i just took 6 hours to finish a game. that is to fudgeking long!

Edit

I play Age of empires 3, star craft , sins , c& c 3 , + more that i am forgetting about ( all rts) And if you say i cant beat you in a long paced out game play me in nr in aoe 3 ill whoop you.

Wow, great post.

It's a 4x game, with a slower pace than Starcraft. There are plenty of other build 'n' rush games out there if that's what you want.

See? Wait and read reviews before you spend money on something you don't actually want.

this is not your traditional RTS but a 4x strategy game also, you can mod everything if you want to speed things up once the forge tools are released, personally gameplay is too fast for me.

You should be able to get a 1 to 1.5 hr game using one of the smallest maps on fast. If that isn't fast enough you can use the in-game Map Designer or Galaxy Forge (free download) to build the perfect map for the game you want to play.

Play on fast. Play smaller games. Play with less players.

Oh, boo-hoo. Do a little research before you buy a game. 4X games take time. They have substance. I never would have bought Sins if games were two hours maximum. How dull.

A prime example of why games released these days suck. Everyone expects all RTS to follow exactly the same rules and any deviation is seen by RTS click fest junkies as the crime of all crimes. Well hats off to ironclad for breaking away and makeing a "REAL" stratergy game! Got to be one of the best games Iv brought in....well I cant think of how long lol

But, at this point this RTS is rather busted because with one or two cheap strategies, you can win rather quickly...

Hint, want a quick game, spam Siege units, or spam carriers.

It makes me smile to see the difference in attention spans in this thread. How dull, indeed.

I would like to see a faster mode available so that small 1v1 maps will generally finish in 45 minutes and a cramped 2v2 in an hour or less. There is a problem with longer games in that most people want to finish a multiplayer game they started then and there.

I don't think it's needed immediately but an option to open up the speed of this game a bit more on ICO should be somewhere on the agenda.

thank you dheaman. thats what I mean. I love long games. But , unlike soem people I have stuff to do in the world. I play Age of Empires all the time and games get over in30-2:00 hours. I have a family that i love and want to spend time with. I dont have 6 hours a night to play. And i aslo like to play with other people. I dont find it fun to play with computers because you can't talk with them. I mean long games are fun but, could they add an option like fastest for a fast paced game that takes an hour

im in the same boat i don't have much time, but i always like longer games that make you strategize on a grand scale, so i just play an hour and save the game and come back to it when im ready, and i'll think in my head when i have spare thinking time on my next moves lol.

You know that multiplayer games can also be saved, right?

EDIT: IMO they should have never marketed the game as an RTS simply because it isn't one. Well, at least in the traditional sense (ie. crappy games like StarCraft). It's closer to MoO/GalCiv/SotS than anything else.

actually it is a real time strategy - the other RTSs out there are RTT (tactical). :)

Find some mates to play with and save the game to continue on another night.

They may be long games but there ain't nothing to match the feeling of nuking your enemy into oblivion after a gruelling game ;)

Sword of the Stars, another 4X game.

RTT's are games that concentrate on the battles and leave resources and base building out.

From what I understood, this is a real time 4x game. To my knowledge this is the first one.

The rule of thumb is that every planet adds 6 minutes to the game.

So a 10 planet game will last 60 minute. A 20 planet game 2 hours. 100 planets, well you get the idea.

This isn't your typical RTS with map sizes very limited.  This is more akin to a game like Civilization where a large map can mean a game that lasts months.  But you can still play a small map on fast speed in about an hour.

HAHAHAhahahaha...

Thats all I have to say - I`m not feeling very diplomatic in the face of this magnitude of silliness, sorry...

While I enjoy sins, they do need to add a "very fast" gameplay option. For me, as a competitive RTS player, things just take too damn long. I don't like having 30 ships and still have it take a few minutes to kill a capital that has no chance of winning.

I don't want to interfere with what other people consider fun. I respect your opinions. But add a faster mode for those of us with differing opinions! I'd like to play a game that takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete on a small map on the fastest setting, not 3 hours. I barely noticed a difference after putting the game on "fast".

Ive played, and loved, Homeworld(2). Although these games are still some of my all time favorites, my biggest complaint was that the scirmish games were too fast.

I have to say the pacing in Sins seems spot on! I've played only a few games so far on small 2 player maps which lasted a few hours apiece. I love the idea of building up my fleet, exploring, having all the cool research options, and having huge battles. Too bad Ive gotten my but handed to me so far but I think I wasnt thinking on as large a scale as the game should be played.

Back to the point, I think the speed is just right, I do speed up the research on my games though. Other than that, I love the fact that games can take hours to finish.

So go play a different game you ADHD douche. I know that people like you have been dumbing-down games for about 6 years now, and you get angry when an RPG actually offers concrete choices, or an FPS features intelligent gameplay and an award-winning story instead of pretty graphics, but I'm sure you'll survive. Sadly, your kind always do.

You know, I remember the best FPS game I've ever played - it was called "Great Tribal War", a mod for Tribes 2. The fundamental theory behind it was that you and the enemy team were placed on an absolutely enormous map that was littered with empty buildings. You were given one deployable 'spawn point', and the goal was to protect yours at all costs. Once it was destroyed, you couldn't spawn anymore, ie: you lose. You would deploy to a base, set up defenses, and expand to other bases (all in FPS). Finding your enemy would then result in massive aerial battles as bombers and dropships would descened from thousands of feet in the air to break the defense, tanks would shell from afar, and so on. The game was extremely cerebral, strategic, and, as I said, the best FPS game I've ever played. Period.

However, games could last up to 5 hours sometimes, but the playerbase was relatively large (it required client-side downloads, which most Tribes 2 mods didn't, so people were turned off of it), showing that, *GASP* some people don't find idiotic repetitive fast-paced twitch shooters fun anymore. I suggest you get some taste.

just play 1v1's. they dont take anywhere near as long. 2v2 and up r just too long to finish. if only i had the time to play 6 hour games xd. cant wait till im retired.
