This game takes too long?

I play a lot of rts and this game just takes too long. Games should last at 2 hours at most not just starting the big battles at 2 hours. The should have trhe resoucres double thier exctractiopn rate. It would spped it up. i just took 6 hours to finish a game. that is to fudgeking long!

Edit

I play Age of empires 3, star craft , sins , c& c 3 , + more that i am forgetting about ( all rts) And if you say i cant beat you in a long paced out game play me in nr in aoe 3 ill whoop you.

Lol. 2 hours too long?

I'm actually sad when I finish a game in less than three or four hours. I want that epic experience.

Sins needs an 'extra slow' more than an 'extra fast' option.

Shit it takes me two hours just to ramp up to the point where I feel ready enough to spread my rule into the vast beyond of my home system. Oh well the user name says it all.

The game can last and end faster than 1 hour on a small map, play with a rush style and you'll be having a very intense game from start to finish. You can probably end a game close to the 20 minute marker actually if your opponent is relatively near and it is one system.

just play 1v1's. they dont take anywhere near as long. 2v2 and up r just too long to finish. if only i had the time to play 6 hour games xd. cant wait till im retired.

Maybe they'll patch some sort of option where you can save your game and then you can play longer games without having to do it all in one sitting. That'd be a sweet feature.

Oh wait, what's this save button do? ....
that requires everyone to start the saved game at the same time... its pointless for most people who dont know each other in real life... its great if ur playing against the ai but lets face it, no ai beats playing against an actual person.

dustinja, I hereby name you Ruler of the Internet. Please send me some personal objects so I may create a shrine for you.

As for Xboxerdude - Nomen est Omen - Weell... It's always a matter of whether I want a quick phallic extension or satisfying epic gameplay. For the first time ever I found a game - Sins - to feature the latter. As someone who likes to ponder upon strategies instead of "uppin" their "micro" and "owning" their enemies with their "1337 skillz", I prefer a game of wits and cinematic scale to "i-click-faster-than-you"-matches.

This game clearly won't satisfy everyone. Not all games do. Perhaps some people just need to move on and forget about SINS, instead of wanting to change it so much that we won’t even recognise it anymore.

Describing the game as an RTS is pretty misleading though. It's like telling someone that WWW Link is a 4X game.

Are people walking into a store, seeing the letters RTS on the box and just slapping down some cash hoping to play generic space RTS #129425? There's words on the back too! I mean honestly, I'm not trying to be cheeky but I keep reading these same comments.

Even just visiting the site and reading the gameplay link gives you very clear information regarding what kind of game it is:

"...blending the epic strategy and empire management of the 4x genre with the fast-paced and tactical elements of a real-time strategy title."

All you twitchy players like to click things right!? Click a link. Don't turtle on knowledge!

The game's just about perfect for me on fast mode :).
(Although I can occasionaly enjoy a "normal" game, when I have a lot more time that is)

If Sins was desinged as a Deep RtS in space....all pro RTS suggestions/complaints would be valid. It wasn't. Set out at the get go to be a RT4X. As such, different standards/expectations should be set......4x standards/expectations. The OP's post would be perfectly valid if it were a RTS.

I've been playing RTS's since Dune, and competed as early as Warcraft. RTS is a cluttered field and any RTS is compared to all those that have come before it. This is something new. 4x games are supposed to take forever. 4x games are golden if they infect you with the "One more turn" syndrome. Theres no turns however, its got that same...I gotta do this before I log off.

With 4x games, amount of "settlements" and players generally determines game length. Devs gave us total control over these settings....so game last about as long as you want them to.

I dunno how other people are finding this game. The first thing I heard about it was that it was a 'spiritual successor' to Homeworld. Once I saw the contrails in a screenshot I knew that I'd be buying it. Eventually all the gaps were filled in though and I'm glad I've kept up with it because the game offers way more than what I would have expected from another Homeworld type game. I'm sure there'll be a signigicant amount of people buying this game expecting something else though. Anyone can read a box, but it doesn't mean that they'll understand what they're reading.

So how would you describe it then??

You play it in real-time, it isn't turn based and there is... strategy involved?

as many posts above said you would describe it as a RT4X game, it has features from both RTS's and 4x games. Sins was never designed to specifically be one type or the other. This is where he is saying describing sins as just an RTS is misleading. RTS = fast gameplay, 4x = Slow indepth gameplay. Sins combined these 2 into a perfect game for some and a non perfect game for others, love it or hate it but sins was designed from the ground up for almost anything to be modded. So if you hate one aspect just change it. As far as i'm aware mods can still be used for multiplayer as long as each player is using the same mod's(correct me if i'm wrong as i'm not much of a multiplayer gamer other than true MMO's)

Hmmm... I think SD/IC should consolidate all the same topic threads into one at this point. It is the same argument over and over again. The people bitch'n about the RTS thing apparently dont want to take the time to read the other threads saying the same shit. This is NOT a RTS title in the traditional sense. It is a hybrid title and as such it is a NEW genera.

Maybe SD/IC should make a specific thread drilling in on the design aspects they decided to implement into Sins from both genera and why they felt so. Then direct all the RTS puritan FB to read the thread before starting another bitch thread.

RTS = "Real Time Strategy"

Sins is Real Time and its Strategy so why is it misleading?

Just because everyone got used to the same style of RTS over all these years?
Is there an unknown rule saying that a RTS isnt allowed to have deeper gameplay and longer games?
I dont think so. Sometimes games redefine a genre and i hope this will be the case with Sins.
The RTS genre stayed too long with its old and overused concept.

People are just asking for 1 or 2 additional faster speed settings than are available now. How does having 1 or 2 additional faster speed settings hurt anyone who is happy with the gamespeed now? Sure the people asking are not phrasing their request very well at all, but there's no reason to tell someone to GTFONoob, lob insults or personal attacks.

Show people that the sins community is not a bunch of elitist jerks please. That someone commenting slightly negatively on the game is not a personal attack against you.

I suspect some of the pushback, ccarlton, against the idea of increasing the available speed settings is a matter of proprietary pride.

Having such an option might indeed turn the game into a clickfest, where the person who can rapidly build up a rush of frigates will overwhelm their opponents. And the idea of that is jarring against the slower sweep of the game as it is.

To use an example from a board game, I know a few chess players who *abhor* Blitz Chess, where the players have only a few minutes to make all of their moves, or they will lose. They consider it a perversion and distortion of the original game.
Sure, but if you ask those chess players if they would rather people not play chess in any form, or blitz chess, what would their response be?

I'd think that at least some of them would say, showing and getting people to enjoy chess in any form is good. Some of those people who start out only playing blitz chess may very well slow down and play normal chess sometimes too.

More options to configure the game doesn't hurt.

See this is all about semantics and expectation. The product's gameplay is a hybrid of the RTS and 4X genres. That's why there are people on this board compaining that the game is too fast and people saying that it is too slow. In recent years, no mainstream RTS game has had the defining characteristics of a 4X game, and I guess there were no 4X games with RTS traits. Company of Heroes is a perfect example of a RTS game that has deep gameplay, and exemplifies what people expect from the genre, just like CivIV or MOO. When you put 'RTS' on the box and website, and a '4XRTS' on the CD people are going to be miffed.

Well, for those who are "Crying Moar" about people wanting a faster game, I propose that we throw in a Very Slow option for them, for the 4X connoisseur who enjoys taking four hours to build a decent size armada.

I like the game, for true, but I do wish that it was a bit faster. Yes I set everything to fast, no I'm not some sort of lumbering RTS-fed ogre who stomps all over sophisticated games. I loves me a good match of Civ 4 and Gal Civ 2 as much as I like C&C, but even GalCiv is faster then this, mostly because of the turn button.

Interesting... Even my Starcraft matches with 5 or 7 people FFA lasted like 7 hours. Can't wait to go to a large LAN with this game...

i wonder if all these people complaining that the game is to slow
realise they can save the game and come back TOMMOROW and play it

this typ of rts/4x is not and should not be made fast

i remember the days of orion and imirium galactica 2 were games took me up to a MONTH to finish

glad i had saved games there otherwise id be real constapated

ps people who post should avoid swearing people who counter post should avoid mocking

pls feel free to correct me
