Strategy Guide?

If you're referring to a printed strategy guide, I believe Stardock said there won't be one. As far as user guides, I know a few folks said they would be working on one and hope to have it out about a week or so after release (so, soon).

if I have the time I'm going to do a bare bones buildup strategy guide tomorrow, with any luck I'll be able to convince a few people that things are easier when you have an empire instead of a few dinky planets facing thine enemies.

that's really dissapointing. i was looking forward to getting one. oh well.

We are developing a very comprehensive one for the ClansofSin.com site. The people working on it have been long time beta testers and have some serious internal competitive history under their belt already. Sadly enough I can say when exactly they will be done.

I was extremely disappointed when I found out this game came with no manual listing the most basic of in game stuff. Civilization comes with a manual explaining all aspects of the game. I love that kind of reading material, and it really helps to reduce the learning curve, as you can learn all the techs and units far easier with a good manual rather than hovering over all of the techs in game.

Oh well. I wish best of luck to the fan community working on a game guide. Can't wait.

You post cuts right to the heart of it Ex0du5 - it's up to all of us in the community to share our successful (and unsuccessful) strategies and tactics. Some folks have been doing so through the forums.

Another option is to share your expertise in an outside venue. I strongly encourage you to share you thoughts on what does and doesn't work on the Stragegies and Tactics section of the SoaSE wiki. You don't need to wait! We all have something worthwhile to share.

One thing to remember is that strategy guides are a waste of time for a living breathing game like SINS. Gameplay will be tweaked and adjusted so that any printed guide will invariably get dated rather quickly. Just look at the changes from 1.01 to 1.02 with clarvoyance, guidance and gravity warhead to name a few.

Sure, eventually a baseline will emerge, but by then we'll be looking to play SINS ][, ashes of an Empire or whatever.

I do however feel that the tutorials while ok, are a bit lacking overall. But its still an awesome game.

I kinda hope eventually they will release a strategy guide. I usually don't even get them for the strategy's but it's fun to read the ever amusing quotes they tend to include and the sweet looking art and lore can make for a nice evening read when you can't sleep because of all the game related ideas eating at yer brain .
