I think I'm getting an error that hasn't been mentioned yet (or I misunderstood it when someone else mentioned it);

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

A file address is here; I can only read the beginning, so I'm not sure of exactly what file it's mentioning.

R6002 -floating point not loaded

This pops up as soon as I try to run the game (from anywhere). Nothing like compatability mode or Run as Administrator or anything else matters. This game has worked for 3 consecutive evenings and then this happens, so I'm not sure what it could be. I have not downloaded a single program or mod or anything. I have Vista 64 bit Home Edition.

I got this error on my other machine after it had been infected by a virus. I also had several trojans. The name of the virus I had was Win32.Sality.aa. All the infected .exe files on my machine gave me exactly the same error you are getting.

You dont even need to download a single to get a trojan horse or a virus. I had seriously embeded virus that keeps on telling me i have a security problem while only on the internet, but that was the security problem. I had to manually remove it piece by piece.

Well, I've had to redownload this game since then, but it's been manageable. The odd thing was that I'm pretty good at finding, if not removing, viruses, but I couldn't find a hint of a virus. My HJT log hasn't even changed since I got this computer. But anyway, thanks for the response; I'll assume it's a virus if it starts getting worse.

Is anyone running Sins with Vista 64  and a 4870? I'm putting together a new build this week and am hoping that Sins doesn't have any problem with it since it's one of my favorite games. I haven't ordered the system yet so I could always go 32 bit as well. Thanks!

It isn't the video card that is a problem, it's the video card driver.  As far as I can see from a quick look around the forum, no one is reporting problems with a video card that uses ATI video card drivers.

You should have an awesome gaming experience with that Radeon HD 4870!  :)

Hello,

I'm having massive crashes in SoaSE... It seems like a really fun game and I'd love to play it, but my PC's not having any of it.

It keeps hanging 5-15 minutes into a game, and I've only tried small maps / 2 players so far.  The screen freezes and I'm required to do a hard reboot.  Sometimes sound keeps playing in the background, other times this doesn't happen. Rolling back drivers isn't an option as other games I'm playing respond really well to current ones.

Is there any other information on this?  It seems a lot of other people are having this problem but there isn't a definitive fix.  It appears to be an issue with the game.

//edit - forgot to mention, I've tried all kinds of graphics settings from low to high, bloom on/off - everything.  Just in case that helps. :\

Is there anyone who can offer any insight into this?  I'd love a game at the weekend :)

There's your problem right there...Your computer is about 10 times too powerful to play this game.  :)   Seriously though, this is not common anymore.  Back in Feb 2008 when this post was created, it was, but not now.  Have you updated to v1.12?

On a serious note, I can't help you.

Haha, thanks for the reply.  I am on 1.12.  Nothing's overheating or anything.

I've been on other forums and people are still having problems it seems, mainly on Vista x64.

I might dedicate some time to finding the fault tonight.

Hmmm...I have vista 64-bit.  However, my computer spec is completely different:  AMD 5200+, HD 4650 video card, built-in sounds card, and 8Gb of ram.  (Once the Phenom II's come down below $200, I'll be upgrading).

Could it just be an nVidia issue then perhaps? Maybe it has something to do with SLI.  I'll do some testing later.

Actually, now that you mention it, try removing one of your video cards.  I seem to remember something about SLI.  Besides, it's not like this game needs SLI.  Heck,  I was playing this game with an integrated graphics processor (albeit the 780G chipset rocks) and I never had any problems.

Well, I played it for 6 hours straight with no crash because I turned SLI off -.-

Sorry to bother you guys!

np.  Sounds like something worked.  Let me sum up your problem, your computer is too good. :)

Hi all, was kinda wondering if my problem is the same as above. I can start the game and play for 5min up to say 30min then i get tiny squares all over the screen and the computer freezes. Sometimes it goes to bluescreen but not always. But I must restart by using the powerswitch. So it sounds like a graphic problem, so I turn settings down. Nothing changes, so i put the fan on constant speed to keep it cool all the time, in case its over heating. Nothing..... Im using latest graphic drivers and latest patch for the game.

I used to run the game without problems untill i changed to Vista and uppdated my hardware.

Vista Buissnes 64X
Intelcore 2CPU 6400 2.13 GHz
6 Gig RAM

ATI Radeon Sapphire HD4870 512Mb GDDR5 PCI-E

So whats that about turning SLI off

Wow, thats weirdly worded, could you restate that in a way that makes sense.

I have had vista for 1 year and 2 months now and had almost no problems so far, yes vista does suck for the fact it takes more power than xp. The only problem I had ever was a microsoft windows update, it ended up crashing the computer, The only other time my computer went stupid was because I overclocked a little to much.

Here is one fact about windows and computer games , they almost never work together quite right, for example I am playing SoaSE and it randomly crashes, I know this can't be over memory useage because I have 4gb of memory in there, and I know its not a minidump because does not display the message nor I can find the file. This means that under all that coding and processes in windows vista and the computer game, that something didn't mesh to well.

This is a fact of life you cannot avoid in microsof os' and for the most part you get use to it and move on by playing the game again.

edit: One other thing sli is only when you have dual graphic cards that have sli available on them.

Oh I just googled your ati graphics card no wonder why, you have one of the best out there, just like the other guys problem his sli dual graphics cards got in the way

These are my specs:

  • Vista 32bit
  • AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual COre 5200+ 2.9Ghz (overclocked originaly 2.66)
  • Nividia GeForce 8600 GT
  • 4gb of ram (I have six but I need to upgrade to 64bit to utilize them)

I wonder if the problem is due to it being a 64bit, cause I play sins, GalCiv 2, Eve, and Civ 4 (only with friends, that ai are to repetitive) on this and never had a lot of crashes after the v1.12 sync bug issues.

Now then, can we get a solution for Windiws 7 crashes? ;)

<_< Unless it's just me. It crashes right when the cursor shows up.

EDIT: Apparantly 7 does not like 1.05. So much for 7 Deadly Sins.

I havent read all of this post so i sorry if the same prob has been reported...
my game works just fine installed the fix and stopped the dumps but now it just stops responding...

I have installed the latest video drivers from Dell and my game still keeps crashing to a black screen and the sounds locks on the last note.  I have tried adjusting the various video settings in the game with no luck.  Can't seem to play more than 30 minutes or so before it locks up.  Any ideas?
