Magnetic Clouds: What are they good for?

I have a map with a Magnetic Cloud for a planet. (it's called Makhaon)
What is this good for? I can send a ship there, but what for?

Where can I find info on this kind of stuff when I run into it?

Well they don't give any income but you can use them as a buffer between you and the enemy and they prevent fighter/bomber squads from being deployed I think.

All non colonizables can be selected, and they show a passive ability that explains what they do
