Crashing Sucks

Hi,

I recently have been getting crashes throughout the game. it happens like after half-an hour to an hour or so it just randomly crashes and it says that send error report message. lol i don't even get enough time to build a small fleet.Im unsure what the cause is but here are my specs:

Amd Athlon 1800+ @1.65ghz
Epox 8k3a+
512 MB micron RAM
Radeon 9550.

Help would be apreciated :D

RAM. You have a bottle neck and it is called Random Access Memory.

To really play this game it seems to need at least 2 gig. The optimum computer stats appear to be higher than published. Problably a good thing due to the flexablity of the AI.

Three hours into the game, I had massive fleets of enemy attacking my equally large fleet and at 2 gig and a duo CPU board, the fleet response was beginning to drag.

Eh, I wouldn't go so far as Pandos about the ram. You really should have a gig instead of 512. That upgrade will cost you less than the game itself.

Your specs are pretty much on the low end, so try turning all the pretties down.

Edit: Just recently. What does that mean? It was working fine before? If so, have you changed anything? Did you install or uninstall something?

well actually i can run the game quite well! on medium-to high settings but i put the res on 1024x768. hardly any lag, i get around 40-70fps.

@garion333
well it only happens in single-player and i tried the game with the update and without but i still get the same error. so im still unsure what the cause is.

dont feel bad, the RAM is not the issue, I have 4 gigs on a XPS M1530 Maxed out system and I get the crash as well around 1 to 2 hours in the game. I hope they fix this problem soon. I love the game but cant seem to get past a certain point.

its the worst when your in a 3v3 map online thats pretty even and just when your side deals a serious blow and will quickly put them into submission - your game crashes :SNIFF!:

i also have 2 gigs of ram, it doesn't happen very often for me but when it does it always seem to be around the hour mark

Mine was working fine until today too, and I am pretty sure the only thing that has changed on my computer was due to Windows updating twice over the past two days. So, could that be the problem? Anyone else update recently?

my pc error report says Offset: 0003ad3f

does this mean anything??????

It's a hexidecimal code which is sometimes used for error reports relating to hardware, but as far as I know it could be anything. Do you get a smimilar report from other games or programs?

So, here I eat my words.

I had a hard lockup after an 1 1/2 hours into the game last night. I had to shutdown and restart. It seems NOT to be RAM. Since I've got so little time in the game, I did not have a history to follow on. When I bought the game last week, I did not have the problem.... is it perhaps the latest (feb 8)download?

Don't want to autoomatically assume it is the Dev's fault.

If any of you are getting minidump messages with your crashes, please make sure to send the dumps in to [email protected] so the devs can analyze them. It's the single most useful thing you can do to help them solve crashes.

The location the dumps are stored in is listed in the Technical FAQ sticky.
