Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

Glassing ReachHey guys. I've been workin on my own halo mod. (ive asked to help with this mod several times but have been ignored:annoyed: ) but ive replaced the tec with the UNSC and the advent with the covenant. i've removed sheilds and lasers from all tec ships, i replaced sheilds with more armor and lasers with missles, Gauss weapons and autocannons. also replaced javalis with UNSC destroyers, and novalith cannon with the super MAC. (the marathon AKA kol battleship has 20+ autocannons that auto attack fighters) I have replaced the advent cap ships with danman's atlantian cap ships and i've replaced the advent cruisers with the advent cap ships. all the old weapons have been replaced with plasma torpedos beams and point defence lasers. i also edited the sting file extensively. (almost all tec cap ship names have been replaced with ship names from the halo universe (spirit of fire:grin: ), same with the covenant. cap ship and frigate types as well. along with many various abilitys and structures. added some new abilitys as well: MAC, Plasma torpedos, shivas (they actully have an EMP pulse that will disable ships) aNova blastPlasma torpedosnd of course the NOVA bomb!!:drool:  }:)   also did quite a bit of particle editing too. still need to learn how to model and texture. here are a few screens i'll probly post more later. P.S. if u still need help with coding for id be happy to help. keep up the good work.

Sorry about ignoring you, guess I kind of got cought up in my own mod making. We already have a lot of the stuff you have put in there. I am, however, interested by your shiva and NOVA bombs. And what do you mean replaced the Novalith with an SMAC? Are you refrencing it now being able to fire at ships or what?

zomg :rofl: im the crazy machinima dude that is UBER :sun: excited for anything that has Sins, Halo :cylon: (lol that's not halo), and machinima in it. Just wondering when all this stuff will come out I really want a schedule for when to start filiming on my halo machinima cause if it is going to be like 4 plus months I might just do some crappy comedy montage to get some filiming practice :(O Also NOVA BOMB!!!!!  :thumbsup:   }:) :thumbsup:

yup, there actully the covenant's primary weapon the ability is like incindiary shells i just edited the icons damage an description.

oh yeah and since the vasari arent in my mod i used the phase missles as the plasma torpedos i just replaced the particle files and edited their sting so now on the infocard it says:

Average Point Laser Damage: 88

Average Plasma Torbedo Damage: 800

its pretty cool oh yeah and the UNSC looks sometin like this:

Average AutoCannon Damage: 45

Average Archer Missle Damage: 175

I don't think Nova bombs should be added. I mean if they were added they would be nothing like what they're suppose to be. Nova bombs can destroy planets, but in Sins you can't destroy planets. So all it'd do is wipe out everything in the solar system, which could be accomplished with several well-placed Shiva's. Not to mention there was only one Nova bomb ever created, as far as I know. And ontop of that, what would the delivery system be? Do you send a ship on a kamakazi run? How do you install it on a ship? Do you build a ship specificly designed for it?

 

All in all, a nova bomb wouldn't be worth the hassle, so I think it should be forgotten and other things should be focused on, like the addition of the covies or something.

Actually, several Nova bombs were created.  A few of them were on Reach when the Covies invaded, and they took at least one with them when they left.  One of them obliterated an entire Sangheili fleet at Joyous Exultation, and damn near made the planet uninhabitable.

 

"Several well-placed Shivas" would have nowhere near that much power.  As far as we know, it takes an entire Shiva to bring down the shields of a Covie ship, and a Shiva can take its target's and the nearby ships's shields down.  However it CANNOT both bring down the shields and destroy the ship.  So several Shivas cannot and will not do as much damage as a Nova.  Add in the fact that a Nova has a much bigger blast radius than several well-placed Shivas, and you have one hell of a reason to use them in very special situations.

 

So a Nova is DEFINITELY worth it in a lot of situations.  And with a kamikaze ship sending it in, you can still get your money's worth in destroyed Covenant.  Especially if they have a nice big fleet preparing to conquer one of your worlds.

I just looked it up and it specificly said "a handfull" of these, so I'm guessing anywhere from 5-10, tops. That's another reason it shouldn't be made, to accurately reflect Halo it'd have to be highly limiting, which I believe is damn hard to do in Sins. The only real ways to limit things is money, and fleet. Considering the nova bomb is a weapon, not a ship, it can't be limited by fleet. So only money. But as we all know in the late-game money is of no consequence, so by the end of a game the UNSC will just be spamming nova bombs left and right.

A kamakazi ship would basicly be walking on the ideal of realism in the mod. The humans would NEVER go "Oh yeah, even though we're almost extinct, go commit suicide to kill the covies." And if for whatever stupid reason they were willing to degrade to suicide missions (Oh, and don't say a word about any spartans, those were special cases), it's still a retarded gameplay aspect.

 

Ultimately it comes down to gameplay, if the UNSC can get a weapon that wipes out a grav well and makes a planet uninhabitable, the covies will need one too. Superweapons like this are just a REALLY bad idea for the mod, they were so rare and only one was ever actually even used in the Halo universe, they really just need to be left out.

i agree unless we could limit their useage to 5-10 bombs then its not worth the spamming.  hey canada i like this venom guy can we keep him.  hey venom i actually found a diferent method to make plasma torpedos.  everyone kept saying to just use phase missiles but i found that using the actual plasma weapon from the advent made things simpler.  you just have to reaplace the ending of the text for plasma and its tracks its targets perfectly.
