Halo MOD?

Halo MOD?

Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

Sorry, I just did not want this forum filing up with people applying for the beta test.

hey back off leave this to Canadaman777 and Cptkeyes they're the ones in charge and it would probably be a bad thing to annoy them alot.

I for one don't agree with any sort of "lottery" myself. I mean how is it fair to people like myself, or Heaven, who've been with this mod since the beggining. Helping in any way we can. And then the guy who comes in and goes "I'll beta test!" has just as much chance of betaing as those who've actually tried to help? Doesn't sit right with me. That's why I liked the open beta idea, NOONE was left out.

im with and against you guys. its their work and their decision on how they want to test. i see your point of view only because im dying to try out the covenant ships.

i dont think it matters if they do a lottery or open beta either way in the end you all get to play the mod its not like your not going to play it at all. plus when you have an open beta alot a spam occurs when it comes to reporting errors or glitches...
plus i bet there has been ppl that have been with the mod since the start but when the come up with an idea it gets posted before they can post it. so just cuz u posted dosent give you the right or anyone that has posted alot and had ideas.. ur going to mad if ur not in the beta anyways. its not going to kill u to wait.

They coulda still posted. There have been TONS of ideas I wanted to post, but were posted before me. Did that stop me? No. I made comments about the idea, threw in my two cents, and tried to refine it. I put in effort where others didn't, a lot of people have. And in my opinion, THEY should get the beta.

Not to sound rude, but this kinda made me mad. Through-out this mod I've seen TONS of ideas posted, that you guys (Well, atleast Canada) said "Thanks for the help, I never thought of that". Now, he coulda been lieing to make us feel good, that's a perfectly logical reason. But then, he coulda just as easily been telling the truth, that the extra brain-power did help come up with ideas he wouldn't have thought up on his own. And even if you guys did allready know it all, that's not the point. The point is you have a steady, solid fanbase who've continouesly tried to help, where ever they could. And they should be rewarded for their faithfullness by being allowed to beta test.

It's just not right to screw over your fans, and contributers (However small of a contribution it may have been), and allow some guy who's only gone "I'll beta!" to beta it, while the guy who's made concept art and helped with Halo Lore and many other things sits by and doesn't get to play it. That's not fair, and it's a total "fuck you" to the fans and contributors :/ So yeah, the idea of a lottery doesn't sit well with me, at all.

Maico, Colt, Acolyte :SNIFF!: , Aridas, and myself have been here for most of the fifty pages. Though we maybe haven't make any contributions other than ideas, the mmod probably wouldn't be anywhere close to where it is and or will be. Of course contributers such as CanadaMan, Keyes, Heaven, DANMAN, and Blamtroid should get the beta obviously too.

You guys also have to take into account that there are those who have been lurking on these threads, just excited as you are about the mod. Captkeys and the rest of the mod dev team should be the ones deciding this.

I could have posted about a million ideas but just because I gave millions of ideas does that make me any more rightful to doing the beta?

Not really, it might make me a little more snobby, as many have previously shown. (Not limited to this mod or even this game's mod)
Either do random or open, no favouritism. We have commented, but we have not done any of the work so it is up to the devs. I would personal vote for open but that is my opinion. The reason I asked for a new thread to be opened on the other forum was to avoid this war on this thread.

Hey guys just found a computer during my vacation (I'm in a library lol) and I couldn't help but see this arguement concerning the beta testers. To help with this I will be setting up a cage-match-to-the-death on top of a mountain...

...no but seriously I did (before I knew how we were gonna beta test) promise Colt, Fife, and All_Under_Heaven that they could take part in it. I would like this to random luck of the draw, but I don't want to be a jerk and shoot these guys down since they've been supporting me out even when it was just me. HOWEVER the only reason we are doing the lottery instead of making it completely open is that we don't want a thousand different people screaming about the same problems. We might do a CLOSED beta and then an OPEN beta once we get the bugs to a minimum.

I will check up on you guys tomorrow as well :)

ok i understand but the point is if it was a lottery it random just like in real life... you go and buy a lottery for the frist time and say u win.. other ppl have been buying tickets for a long time..

i agree

but hey guys why are you complaining he said that you we going to have a part in it. plus the mod come out for eveyone to use. no matter how much we argue its up to the main guys to decide what to do. not us.

canadaman proved my point about having an open beta. if have one, ppl will report about the same one over and over without reading the ERRORs and see that is already posted some might but alot wont

also i want yall to know the main reason i threw up the idea of open beta is sometimes it fells like yall are telling us what to do im sorry to sound about it i knew about colt and under heaven and fife i just wanted to see their reaction to it
Reply #1290 Top
Since your doing a lottery for the beta apperantly, just so you know, its very likely i will not be able to test and send feedback for i will be going to East Russia. I will not have a very good internet connection though

hey captain keyes i think ive finally got the shields figured out for the covies get on messenger for the details. by the way i told you i was an idiot.
i just want to say that i've been rooting for you guys since this thing started, and don't really want to beat a dead horse, but i just wanted to say that most of your fans (though they may be impatient) are probably perfectly content to wait until the main kinks are worked out before you release a public beta, and i personally can wait for a final version.

best of luck,
Maniac

Tests, pfft. I wont play mind games to beta test, it isn't THAT important to me. I wanted equality on this situation, yes the same issues would be spammed in an open beta, but oh well. You see a thread, notice it's the same, and ditch it. Five seconds of your time wasted. Yet EVERYONE gets to have their fun, and pitch in as much as possible. I just don't like a lottery, it's not fair. Real life may not be fair, but this isn't real life. It's a game, and there's NOTHING to stop it from being fair to everyone. And so because of that, I'll NEVER support a lottery. Either closed beta, or open beta. Preferably open beta.

well colt if you would have listen to canadaman and didnt rant like a little school boy you would know that lottery or not you fife and under heaven would get the beta but as for the others it would come down to a lottery

So? This isn't only about me and whatnot. If you honestly think I'm that self-centered, then meh. I still want an open beta because what about all the others who want to play this? Who were promised an open beta and have been waiting patiently to play this mod? It's not fair to them. If you were gonna use a set group of beta testers regardless, you can simply get bug reports from them, and let everyone else enjoy it.

do you honestly believe it will work that way. if its an open beta then everyone will complain about the problems no matter what you tell them. assuming the worst problem is only a minor glitch they don't need hundreds of emails about the same minor glitch. if you want to rant about fairness go back in time to the soviet union.
