The Ultimate Combo mod - featured in PC GAMER

Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .

Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.
7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.

7 Deadly Sins is:

The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community.
The work of many individual modders working together under my leadership (DANMAN3712).
Nearly 4 years old and downloaded in various forms over 100k times worldwide and in 5 languages.

Together, we form the 7DS Mod Team and the backbone of DANMAN GAMES www.danmangames.com

7 Deadly Sins is the combination of original 7DS Team content and other mods including:

Capitalships -capital armor
Dreadnought -capital armor, incredible firepower and durability
Titan -capital armor like Dreadnoughts, possess doomsday weapons

Imperial Executor SSD Shield Overload
Atlantian Avatar Stellar Converter (beam with damage to all in path)
Triad of Creation -Lapis Blackhole Generator and Spatial Compressor Wormhole Weapon

New Special Abilities
Rogue "Assault Pods", The Machine "Assimilation" for capturing capitalships, TCA armor plating unlocked by research for greater tanking, TOU "Oppression Aura" that reduces enemy firepower, Arilou Obliterator "Ion Cannon" disabling Starbases, Arilou "Mxyzptlk Array" with time disrupting "Quasi-Bomb", Triad of Creation "Nosferatu" and "Ghoul" energy siphons that do damage, and More!

New classes of strikecraft squadrons and Capitalships/Dreadnoughts/Titans with fixed number of Squadrons
Cruiser Squads of 3 strikecraft
Capital Squadrons of 6 strikecraft; largely used by Hangars
Titan Wings of 9 strikecraft; also used by Starbases

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.

12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.

Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might
Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection.
TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.
Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order
Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.

TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.
The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine
Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan.
Ship research boosts weapon performance.

DARK FLEET- modified Vasari
The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey.
Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.

Imperial Armada- from Star Wars
Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.
Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.

Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates
Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery.
Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships

Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games
Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.

Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games
Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.

Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games
Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.

Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods)
The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.

Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games
As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.

Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers
The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

Dan has found the real problem, and for once it was not the Black Hole.
After it is tested a bit more I am sure he will post a new fix for it. The current fault will not occur in all games, and can happen at different times in an individual game. It still occurs in 1.3b so if you do not have it yet then wait, or if you simply cannot, then play on a small map. Thank you all for your patience, and doubly to the beta testers!

Cheers!

Hrm...I'm not going to dig through the GameInfo files to pull out things I don't care to play with, just to have the latest version of Sins Plus. I'll have to pass all the same.

UPDATE:
Thanks for hanging in there people, and I think I have conquered the mini dump evil..for now anyways. The "fixed" version is loading now, and should be available around 4:00 PM EST. It is labeled "7 DEADLY SINS 1.3c"
This should fix everything, but then again, only thorough play testing can really determine that. So far, it works for me.

Now, that being said, this problem actually turned out to be a good thing, for you guys anyway. It created hell foe me, but I wanted to reward you all for your patience and understanding, and for reporting all those errors, so there are changes from the last post. Here is some bonus content for 1.3c! :

NEW version of the wormhole, so now there are 2 different types instead of one.

The ATLANTIANs are more complete now than ever before:
All 5 TITANS now tweaked, complete with weapon and ability changes, along with stats and research requirements. They are balanced, but powerful
I have also included more ships for the Atlantians, and they are now at max capacity.
The new ships include a reworked Sentry (now dubbed Apophis) and a new Atlantian Crusier, based of the Vasari Heavy crusier (now dubbed Sekmet). Both use the Atlantian beam technology.

As always, please let me know any problems you may have. But please, playtest, and test, and test some more. Let me know what you like, what you don't, and if you have fun!

Enjoy!

Walkthrough:
PLAYING AS THE ROGUE:

The Rogue are like the pirates, and utilize many of their ships and technology, including the new capture ability.
They can capture frigates and structures. When you capture a frigate, it is yours to command immediately after the effect takes hold. You get to keep the ship until it is destroyed, or it is taken back by researched technology.

Structures can be captured, but you can't "use" the structure. It just takes it away from the enemy, and they in turn will fire upon their own building. But HERE is the advantage. When you take over a structure, set it for self destruct. In 30 seconds, it is destroyed, and YOU reap in the costs of the structure!

Now, the Rogue DO NOT have a colony ship. This is intentional. You must CAPTURE ONE!
This is the only way you will be able to spread to other planets. So don't set up a game where it is Rogue against Rogue, or you will both be stuck at your homeworld.

PLAYING AS THE UR-QUAN:
Since this is a rce in progress, not much to be said here. They are "enslaving" the Vasari, and use them as thier support craft (for now).
The only Cap ship (for now) is the Marauder, which is devastating. The main weapon is a buzz saw blade, which hits for 100 points per shot. The main ability is the FRIED system, which is USER toggled. Everytime you push the button, if you have the antimatter, it will shoot a ring of fire around the ship, destroying all fighters arounf the ship and damaging enemy ships and structures. This Maruader also has the jam weapons ability, to keep those pesky fighters away.

If you have one Marauder, your ok. Two is powerful. Three is dominant. Once you have 3, go forth and lay waste to all before you. Even the Atlantians fear the
Ur-Quan Kor-Ah. This race will grow in the new release.

Have fun!

Wait how do i add it to the game? To use mods i usually make them a shortcut on the desktop *actually that happens automatically after i download it and then i send it to the mod file but this thing dosent appear as a shortcut after i download it so where does it go?????????????
hey DANMAN, have you fixed most of the recently occuring bugs. Sorry I'm too lazy to look. Also I have a dial-up connection so I'm probably not going to be able to download you mod for awhile so if you could, I'd like to see some screenshots of all the new stuff. Sorry (again) if I'm too lazy to find those.

Keep it up :CONGRAT:

Yoadjla:
Download version 1.3c, and then after it downloads to your desktop, unzip it into your mods folder. Start the game, deactivate any mods that run on startup, and activate 7 DEADLY SINS 1.3c , then check the box for load on startup. Play the game.

That's is.

Thomas Fife:
Yes, the bugs are fixed as far as I can tell. Version 1.3c is what you want to download. Screen shots are already up, just browse through the forum.

DANMAN

PS- if this goes well, then I will begin working on 1.4

Bug from 1.3b: Not sure if it's fixed in c.

I captured a planet and it wouldn't allow me to build mines. Was greyed out. However, if I manually clicked the 'roids I was able to build them. Happened on one planet only.
TYVM for 1.3c. It's great to see how fast you fix problems. Can't wait for 1.4 downloading 1.3c right now. Keep up the awesome work!
Not to be a nuisance but can you just include the patch from now on instead of rereleasing it as a total package? It's just that the mod is now over half a gig and takes a long time to move around on my computer and i'd rather just change the necessary files then all of them. Just a suggestion!

I downloaded the mod(v.1.3) today and I am having some problems playing the game it bogs everything down. When I move the camera with the directional keys or zoom in and out, the frame rate drops dramatically and freezes momentarily again and again(happens when selecting stuff as well). This is before I have even built frigates aside from a scout unit. Also, when I am in the in-game menu the game will completly freeze when I select the tabs.

Mainly, what I am trying to say is the game does not run smoothly anymore. It ran great before using 7 Deadly Sins v.1.1. Why am I having performance issues now?

On a final note I set the mod to run on start-up and quit the game and turned it back on before I tried this Mod.

P.S. Danman the starting music goes great with the game I like it!

Once again, I'd like to stress spelling...

It's Dreadnought, not Dreadnaught!
Ya there are a few spelling errors in the game that I will post later when I get the time but also is it just me getting the following problem.

Whenever I download the file 1.3c it stops mid way through or right at the end when I have maybe 3 megs left. It takes about 30 minutes for me to download and I've re downloaded the thing about 50 times now. Some times it stops anywhere form 1% completed to 99% completed. This happened with 1.2 also. It eventually completes after like the 100th try but it really pisses me off. I'm using Firefox 3 RCT1. I've also tried downloading with IE7 but still stops a lot. I'm using a wireless connection that saye it's speed is 54mbps when I scroll over the icon on the bottom icon. Is it file front, Firefox/IE7 or is it my computers fault?
Forget my last commet. I downloaded the file from the mirror Arakcheev posted and was downloading at 350kbps. Filefront gave me 200kbps and crashed. I downloaded the file in 1 shot from his mirror way faster. Danman you should post his mirror under the filefront download link as I'm sure I'm not the only one who had this problem. Thanks Arakcheev. He posted his mirror in reply #640.

just downloaded the C version and so far it mini dumps the first time I attemp to click the cruiser button for the rogue, havent tried the other races , was wondering if a fix for the minidump is forthcoming
Reply #648 Top
just tried the other races, minidumps before the game even loads the map. any Idea what might be causing it.

Question: for atlantians, almost everything in research is Advent related. 1.2 was ok but since 1.3 research tree is back to Advent. And how to gain access to Cap ship? Same thing in logistic and tactical menu, Advent pics and name, But cap ship are ok.
Hey. I downloaded this file last night, and tried it out. It's really awesome, and I can't tell you how cool it is to see the new planets, or to see the rogue stars form a binary or even trinary system. It's a wonderful mod.

That said, it keeps crashing on me, fifteen-ish minutes into a game. (It seems like a long time, but it's before my game autosaves, so that's what I'm guessing.)

I'm wondering if there's a fix to that, and also whether it's possible to run multiple mods at once; I've tried to run this and a 'real combat' mod at once, and they won't both work. Enabling one disables the other.
